The journey continues by welcoming in our big family, the artist Pura Pura. 

Straddling rap influences, a fervent defender of 808 rhythms, and metallic club sounds, the artist from Montpellier offers us a colorful palette of tracks paying tribute to different historical currents of the electronic music scene. 

While making these tracks sound like a club in order to offer his audience breathless and heady rhythms, which will vibrate the crowds this fall. With the signing of the "Odyssey Club" EP, we are proud to represent the essence of our origins, with a cinematographic project that promotes the raw energy of a successful late-night journey.  

The richness of this EP is none other than the combination of tracks creating a unique musical work, which will bring the public throughout the tracks to feel a palette of emotions without equivocation, plunging it into an immersive atmosphere almost cinematographic, even exhilarating. 

With "VVVictory", Pura Pura sets the scene and offers an inspirational introduction. This track is based on a haunting, almost disturbing melody, which will plunge the listener into an atmosphere, cutting him off from his reality. Built from a rap instrumental, the artist has modified the drums to bring a club touch to the track, an exercise very appreciated by Pura Pura. 

We go on with energy to the origins of the club music with "Feel the 808", which is a track mixing a bass realized on the Prophet Rev2 with an 808 instrumental very largely inspired by the murderous drops of the current rap tracks. 
The whole is enhanced by the repetitive and haunting voice of Karlita, a tribute to the vocals of Ghettotech. 

"Music Maestro", the banger of the EP, mixes in an assumptive way the influences: from the vocal of T99 that was a landmark track in the life of the artist, to the cuttings of the Funky Drummer break, passing by the stab house and the tones of TR-808 that reminds the Ghettotech. 

We finish the sound adventure with "Odyssey Club" which is a post-club track allowing Pura Pura to leave his artistic comfort zone by consigning part of the creation to the machine: the breaks have been automated so that the musical rendering is random. This results in phases alternating between silence, breaks, and an extremely scathing drop. 

This sound experimentation gives birth to a transcendental work, which will know how to transport the listener to an environment where the audacity of the club summons the dance, the celebration, and more broadly the emancipation of the existences.

Sarah Farina takes on "Feel the 808" and does what she masters to perfection to illuminate a track by bringing rhythm and depth, while directing the sounds so that we feel a new energy.

Bianca Oblivion takes "Odyssey Club" by storm and brings a dynamism that only she knows. On 90s tunes, the remix summons an irresistible stab that marries perfectly with the song's breaks.

By summoning these two renowned talents, Pura Pura offers to his project a coherent turn oriented on the love of frantic rhythms and the importance of transmitting the state of mind of the club. What makes us dance, celebrate, exchange... The meeting of two worlds of its own that enriches the EP and allows it to end in apotheosis.

“Holler” is a roller aimed at the dancefloor, with spiraling, evolving layers of bass and percussion with a tongue-in-cheek nod to 2000s hip hop. It’s the second track of a five-track EP “Bend And Break” which explores contrasting moods in the evolution of a night, drawing inspiration from his recent move from San Francisco to Philadelphia and a summer spent exploring his roots in China.

Artist
Philadelphia-based producer Shai FM creates music that are shapeshifting explorations, veering from introspective headnodders to floor-shaking drum workouts. Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, he was influenced by everything from classic four-to-the-floor house and techno to the syncopated rhythms of UK bass and global club music. In addition to his self-released material, he has upcoming releases with Bay Area collective Club Moniker and Italian label Art Aud.

PREMIERE: Shai FM - Holler

On Escape from the Club, @alecpace makes his return to All Centre, following up his Absolute Pressure EP from 2019 with four wonky, breakneck techno cuts.

Opener Linea kicks off proceedings with a buoyant approach to electro. Encouraging shouts of “come on” are filtered through disorienting FX, usher in sliding synth lines. As the track progresses, the frenzied synths increase in intensity before giving way to a skeletal drum beat.

On the second track Drowning, throbbing kick drums pair with skizzed-out hi-hats. The track’s wonky, rolling groove builds up towards a propelling synthetic percussion onslaught with unique sound design to boot.

The title track increases the intensity with skewed acidic pronouncements leading into a lolloping 168bpm beat, embellished with Pace’s characteristic vocal sample disfigurations.

Finally the EP settles on its most frenetic excursion, False Claims. Hiking the BPM up to 148, high velocity drums which nod to UK Funky guide the listener towards ecstatic fervor that is hinted at throughout the proceeding tracks.

1. Ben Hauke - Dyfed Triangle (snippet)

From the shores of Bermuda to the inner-city musical depths of the UK underground club scene. Unearthed, heavy and convicting sound culture delivered by his Caribbean and African roots.

Bermuda born musician and visual designer Jahday Ford aka Obeka transitioned into the Manchester music scene in 2016 building a native sound and rhythm distinct to his homeland. The Me Gusta Collective Co-Founder blends native styles from Pan-African, Caribbean and South American origins that became essential for manifesting polyrhythmic electronic beats and tempos with a mix of live and software based drum recording. Obeka has ventured his sound in a multitude of UK cities and beyond the shores in Bologna, Brussels, Cuba, Lisbon and Munich and most recently finishing a debut tour in Colombia.

Fresh off his first year as a new resident for Oroko Radio based in Ghana, Obeka has dived into the airwaves of BBC Radio, Rinse FM, Rinse France, NTS Radio, Miami Community Radio and most recently Berlin radio Refuge Worldwide. Obeka has expanded his sound beyond the borders supporting musicians such as Lil Silva, Femi Kuti, Kampire, Sampha, Tinariwen and Ghanaian MC Bryte.
