''As we touched a bit on my early influences in the interview I thought it’d be good to revisit some of my favourite early 90’s techno/electro/IDM for an all vinyl mix.  The kind of tracks you might have heard played by Colin Dale and Colin Faver back in the day, and perfect for a late night/early morning drive home from Moondance or Elevation as the sun rises. Jimpster (Jamie Odell) is one of the most renowned DJ’s in the world of house music, and his name has been synonymous with the scene since the 90’s. Over his career, Jimpster leveraged his musical-upbringing to craft remarkably tasteful productions, ranging from deep house, chilled-out downtempo and acid jazz. Jimpster’s catalogue features an impressive seven albums and countless EP’s, managing to never sacrificing quality which signals a creative output that is a pipe dream for most artists. When he isn’t behind the decks or in the studio, Jimpster is busy running his two record labels, Delusions of Grandeur and Freerange Records.In celebration of Jimpster’s upcoming ‘Smile for a While EP’ on his very own Freerange Records, we were lucky enough to have him on for a special edition of MIXED BY.

Fortunate to grow up around the rich club culture of NYC and influenced by the sounds around him, Avision now finds himself helping to usher in a new wave of techno for the New York scene.  Over the last couple of years, he’s had releases on a range of influential labels like Ellum, Drumcode, Hardgroove, Machine, We Are The Brave, Mindshake, Intec, On Edge Society, and many more.  Support for his productions have been coming in strong from tastemakers like Adam Beyer, Maceo Plex, Nicole Moudaber, Chris Liebing, Laurent Garnier, Joseph Capriati, and The Martinez Brothers to name a few.

Avision started young on the turntables at age 12, and his preference for a more mature sound lead to his first residency by the time he was 15. Recent touring highlights include gigs at The Brooklyn Mirage and Time Warp in NYC, Fabrik Madrid, Pacha Barcelona, Stereo Montreal, and Space Miami, as well as festivals like Elrow, The BPM Festival, and Dockyards in Amsterdam.

Avision’s legacy is growing through clubland like a supernova exploding in the farthest reaches of our galaxy…and he’s just getting started.

Having cut his teeth in the late ‘90s, Eli has morphed from a local legend to a global force with a catalogue of masterful dancefloor hits for the likes of Classic, Plant Music, Nervous Records, Safer At Night as well his own hugely influential label, Night People NYC, home to his latest EP, ‘Night Class’.

Luke Solomon build his foundations in the early 90s starting off behind a record counter at Stop on By in Barnet. Moving on to the legendary Freetown Records and then on to Narcotic Records for Roger Sanchez he worked in PR and promotions. During this time, he gained a residency at London’s ground breaking pirate radio station Girls FM where he met his dearly departed friend Kenny Hawkes. Together they set up the London mid-weeker Space where they invited people like Chez Damier and Derrick Carter. Meanwhile Luke had become close to Derrick Carter and together they set up the Classic Music Company which is currently enjoying a huge renaissance. Amongst all of this Luke began his studio career forming the house music duo “Freaks.” Fast forward over 25 years where Luke Solomon has been guiding the good ship Classic through a seminal year and working closely as A&R with Simon Dunmore at both Glitterbox and Defected. Over the last few years he has been cementing his position as a Producer, working with Horse Meat Disco on their forthcoming album on Glitterbox, and with Honey Dijon on her second artist album forthcoming on Classic in 2020 and writing with the legendary Kathy Sledge on brand new material. Luke has also kept his London residency status holding court at the sadly closed Savage Disco @ Metropolis and moving now to a permanent residency at XOYO in London. He also continues to work on solo music, currently enjoying success with his studio band “Powerdance.”
