Hailing back to my Progressive Rock roots this melancholy piece addresses the angst of mortality with Melloton, guitar and vocals and a mix of sounds and effects. Rather than sad, I attempted mental healing and compassion.

I can't see projected in front of me, ideas of permanency, on the road to eternity.
The turnstile approaches on the path, a narrow way for all to move along, clicking out a sequence of one by one, you can never go anywhere, but straight ahead... on the road of the lonely one.

2. Sons And Daughters

Written and composed by Michael White © 2012 All Rights Reserved. The players are Mike White (guitars & vocals), Dave Mattheiss (guitar) and Van Ertel (pedal steel). 

This piece was recorded in one pass using two Audio Technica AT4080 ribbon mics in Blumlein Array feeding two channels of GML mic pre, an RME ADI-8 DS A/D converter and into Pro Tools 10. No overdubs. I used minimal EQ (a little 1kHz to pop the vocal up), reverb, compression and limiting.

Oh, and it was hugely fun! I'm proud to have these talented guys as good friends and thank them for helping me demonstrate the power of these Audio Technica AT4080 ribbon mics in Blumlein Array. Influences ranging from early electronica, experimental, classical/baroque, new wave, new age, and progressive rock. I've recorded under numerous pseudonyms – Galaxy Soundwave Project, Hidden Temple of Saturn, BetwixtRx, Rhythmosis, and Melvin Mantis of Ataien, just to name a few.

My project, Turquoise Avenue (2015-2018), had 56,000+ downloads and double that number in listens on Jamendo. 

Did I mention this profile was once called Back Trax?  I ditched that moniker when I shifted gears. Back Trax  focused on creating hypnotic hip-hop instrumental backing tracks – those have since found a new home on another platform.

I specialize in the "mistakes are interesting" school of production. So depending on your point of view my selections will either be sloppy or chock full of character. Feel is king. I hate making music with a mouse. Real pianos, tube guitar amps, and a lifetime of listening applied.
