Welcome back to another Transmission broadcasting from the HER 他 Transmission Mix Series, a weekly series showcasing incredible artists from around the world. For the 73rd edition, we bring you a mix from Naarm-based artist Simona Castricum. 

Simona Castricum is a Musician, DJ, and Producer on Kulin Nation. As well as performance and production, Simona also runs the 100% independent record label Trans-Brunswick Express and is a community radio broadcaster at 3RRR.

Creating since the late 1990s, Simona’s music draws inspiration from gender and sexual nonconformity, architecture and dreamy futures between URL and IRL spaces. In 2020, Simona released the album “Panic/Desire" debuting at #1 on the AIR 100% Independent Album Chart.

Evolving as one of Naarms most unique live electronic acts and DJs, Simona has played iconic performances at some of the country's biggest festivals, including Golden Plains, Melbourne Music Week, BIGSOUND, Hybrid and Soft Centre.

Budnikaitė is a Vilnius based visual artist and the co-founder of Insurgency, a label and podcast series focusing on the depths of beat-driven underground industrial and experimental expression of sound. 

She is an honest musical enthusiast, attracted to the bizzare and unorthodox sounds, and constantly inspired by the 80s DIY underground cassette movements. Her introduction to music started at early childhood with her mother being a musicologist, this affected her deep concentration and effort into understanding the complexity of sound. 

Nowadays Budnikaite is the head of curating Insurgency and an occasional DJ looking to explore the hardly visible barriers between contemporary club music, downtempo beats and leftfield.

Machine isoStream 14 :: Steve Law

Melbourne band Black Cab is singer/programmer Andrew Coates, guitarist/keyboardist James Lee and drummer Wes Holland.  Black Cab's sound is a blend of electronics and rock with shades of Europe and America in the '70's and '80s.

Black Cab's debut album, Altamont Diary was released in Australia in late 2004, in the UK in Sept. 2005 and across Europe via Stickman Records in March 2006. Altamont Diary received rave reviews around the world for it's weird take on the fateful free concert at Altamont Speedway in late 1969.

Black Cab's second album, Jesus East, was released in Australia in September 2006 and was nominated in the top 25 Australian albums for the 2006 Australian Music Prize. The band toured Germany, Austria, Holland and Belgium in May 2007 to support the European release of Jesus East through Stickman Records.

Black Cab's third album, Call Signs was released in Australia in July 2009 through Sydney label Laughing Outlaw. Call Signs features a strong return to keyboards and found sounds loosely inspired by 1970's East Germany; surveillance, fear, anxiety and the ever present state security apparatus. In February 2010 'Call Signs' was shortlisted for the 2009 Australian Music Prize.

Black Cab released a double album, Games of the XXI Olympiad in late 2014 followed by the single Uniforms in 2016 and an EP, Empire States in 2017. The alt-soundtrack album "Akira" was released in late 2017.

Black Cab's sixth album, "Rotsler's Rules" is out May 2022.
