My set from Friends & Family Fall Classic.  The rain had just ended and the smiles were plentiful.

This is a DJ set I recorded live in one shot at home. It's a good example of what I do now. The set starts at 85 BPM and ramps gradually up to 120 BPM over the course of an hour and includes variety of electronic dance styles. The unifying theme is that they all have some kind of world music flavor. About 1/3rd of the tracks are my original production. I improvise live over the tracks on the Linnstrument and keytar.

Because of the BPM ramp a set like this will fit in best in between a DJ playing Dub or maybe DnB and another DJ playing house or techno, or as a ramp up between a downtempo melllowish set and a more full on set. 

I can also go in the reverse direction, starting at a higher BPM and gradually ramping down ... but it's way more fun to bring the energy up than down ;).

We had the absolute honor & privilege to perform at the Daybreaker SF: Peace Tour located at the breathtaking Grace Cathedral. This is the live 2-hour recording (Dancing Mandy is the first half, DJ Denise is the second half). Thank you for listening!

Playing Daybreaker at Grace Cathedral was incredibly meaningful for me on so many levels. Growing up singing in church choir was my first connection to music, so being able to DJ in a house of worship (in my wedding dress!) really brought my musical journey full circle. I thought deeply about what to play, and decided that it was really important to play soulful, uplifting house music, the music that unapologetically spreads love in the face of judgement, the music that was created (and still is) to bring fellowship to so many Black, gay, and other marginalized groups when organized religion did not support them. For so many, house music IS church — the only church where they feel 100% loved and accepted for who they are. Bringing these seemingly two diametric opposites under one roof was a powerful experience and I’m so grateful to Daybreaker and Grace Cathedral for making it happen. So as Jack said…Let There Be House!
