So I have an album coming out next month on Danse Noire, and there’s two videos coming out with it. Two tracks on the videos, however, can’t be found in the album. This is formally similar to how a music video will sometimes include skits, supplemental narrative material that is not necessarily tied to the album, or even the song itself. Thus the title “Advancement of the Periphery” is a call to this semantic inconsistency, voiding the para-contractual Obligation between me, the audience, and the mediums through which my music is presented. It isn’t meant to be aggression as much as withdrawal, a quiet rejection of the means I must take in order to get people to listen to my work.
