Greg O'Connell aka BALMR is a DJ/Producer hailing from Cork City, Ireland. 
In his own words: 'It was difficult to escape the sound of House Music growing up in Cork'
He was heavily influenced by the sounds on the pirate station 'Radio Friendly' and tales of the infamous Sweat Nights with Greg and Shane (aka Fishgodeep) at the legendary Sir Henrys club. 
As an avid record collector from an early age, he began to play locally and then internationally, frequenting Amsterdam hotspots while hosting his Down Right Deep show on Deep House Radio. 
He always had a personal love for the Detroit sound e.g., Norm Talley, Mike Huckaby, Delano Smith, Moodymann etc,. and naturally moved into production.
He has had numerous releases and remixes in his catalogue on labels such as Nordic Trax, Kolour Detroit and Expanded Records as well as working on mixing for other artists on labels like Yore.

He is also one of half of the duo 'Southbounds Sounds', having recently featured as a guest on Lars Behrenroths DSOH show. 
BALMR has several other upcoming projects this year, including 2  vinyl only releases with one on 'Selections Label' out of Toronto featuring a remix from Glenn Davis, and another on Deeper Groove with his fellow collaboration partner Deep Excavations, featuring a remix from John Daly.

The leading club in all of South America is turning 15 this year with a long season of events to celebrate the great milestone. As well as marathon parties, a Diynamic showcase, appearances from Derrick Carter, events with more than 15 international artists, special events with lectures, workshops and talks, there will also be t-shirt giveaways, competitions and all sorts of extra conceptual delights. 

For a decade and a half now, D-EDGE, under the stewardship of DJ, label owner, producer, promoter and accomplished business man Renato Ratier, has been putting Brazil on the map. Offering line-ups that you just don’t get anywhere else in the content, the club is a bastion of underground quality and hosts label parties, showcases, special events, festivals and more besides with only the biggest and best DJs of the house, disco and techno scenes. 

As such, the whole of the year will focus around the birthday with tons of special events featuring international guests as well as a healthy selection of local talents such as boss Renato Ratier and many others who have released on the D-EDGE label like Gaturamo, Andre Torquato, Propulse and many more. 

1st Event: Raww X Room
Date: 18 and 19 April.
The venue for this is Memorial da América Latina, a space that has been designed by the worldwide recognized Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer, and it is literally on the other side of the street from D-EDGE. The audience will have to cross this "line/edge" to find the Raww X Room and the club will be crossing its physical and conceptual edge thoughout a 45 hour non-stop event.

On Friday, April 24th, 2020 our Detroit and world music community lost a legend in Mike Huckaby.  He was someone that I personally looked up to in a lot of ways and someone I absolutely respected as an artist and a person.  

He influenced so many artists and DJs, not just in Detroit, but around the world.  So much so that I simply cannot put not into words how much of an influence he was to me and many others I personally know. 

On Sunday, April 26th, 2020 I decided to stream a 2-hour set on Twitch of nothing but Mike Huckaby tracks, plus other tracks that were inspired by him and those that I might have had personal stories about.  It was a way of personal healing and remembrance.  Two hours just wasn't enough, however, and I ended up playing for almost five.  

There were quite a few friends that mean the world to me that were logged in and chatting during the entire stream and I can't thank them enough.  We were all able to help each other in the healing process as a group, which is exactly what the stream was bout.  

There have been many tributes for Huck and there will be many more. This is merely my perspective on what he meant to me and the great thing about Huck is there are still many hours of other tributes that will differ greatly than mine. It just goes to show you how large of a reach he had.  

The world will never be the same now that Huck is gone but he will live on through the army of Deep House (and techno) Soldiers he had continued to build throughout his lifetime.  

I also wanted to point out that I had @andytoth master the audio the recording. This is significant because many people might not know that Huck would send his tracks to Andy for the mix downs and mastering.   I couldn't think of a better audio engineer to touch this mix.
