Hector Ram is a Mexican DJ/Producer and founder of Short Attention Records, making his vinyl debut with 4 original tracks and one remix by Detroit artist Generation Next. 

The EP covers House and Techno variants for different tastes within these genres. Hector has been around for a while, doing appearances in different clubs, parties, and stream platforms such as Boiler Room and Thump. As a label owner, he’s been pushing and supporting the underground House and Techno sound (specially from Chicago and Detroit) along with his brother Ricardo Ramirez (label co-owner).

Short Attention Records launches its second release with a five track offering of proper melodic house & techno from Hector Ram with the word 'quality' stamped large upon them. 'Midnight Sounds' starts things off with the grand rhythmically-building 'Midnight Sounds', almost New Order-esque at times. 'For Our Small Parties' follows, old skool again in flavour, blending subtly employed breaks and a sturdy house framework, then 'Dear Dancefloor', probably the gentlest and most fragile effort here, opens side two. 'On The Road' boasts a more electro feel and Orbital-esque synths, and is deemed worthy of a second airing via a nicely throbbing remix from Detroit's Generation Next closing proceedings.

Hot on the heels of Endian's highly regarded 'XS-10' comes a full EP from Secretsundaze favourite Fred P. After his contribution to the first Dance 2017 V/A EP, Secretsundaze thought they would get him to contribute a full EP.   Fred is without doubt a master of his craft both as a DJ and producer and somehow manages to be prolific while keeping the bar set high, releasing across many platforms from his own Soul People Music to Ibadan to Mule to Ostgut Ton.

A1 track '6AM' does what it says on the tin and is a moody, tribal percussive number with a voodoo like vibe. 'Herb' is a more psychedelic affair with weird off-kilter alien jazz keys, spooky voices and rumbling bass. Last up there is a timeless, classic, more typically spiritual Fred P track in 'Mile High' with its slow build groove, gentle keys, soaring strings and ethereal vocal harmonies which will surely become a 'moment' in many of the deeper DJs sets.

“Other Phases Of Sleep” is Amsterdam based artist Kennedy’s first excursion beyond his ever-consistent imprint “Dream Machine”. Cultured deep house label Pulp welcomes back regular artist DaRand Land for another of his atmospheric EPs. The Vermillion Room features four sublime cuts that deal in candle-lit backroom sounds.

Hailing from Buffalo, New York, Land has been a low-key but high-class house innovator ever since the 90s. His smoky and subtle style is all about creating warm grooves detailed with musical synths and delicate percussion that sink you into a meditative state. He has been releasing on this label for a decade as well as the likes of Deep4Life and Urban Imagery and is in fine form again on this latest outing.

'Never Far From Jazz' hints at the producer's influences as he layers up dusty kicks with deft cosmic chords. More wispy leads bring a sense of mystery next to crunchy hi-hats that drive things ever further into the unknown. 'Journey For The Ready' is another brilliantly wide open and cavernous sound with smeared pads and melancholic piano chords hanging in the air, then 'Formative Funk' switches things up. This one has percolating drums and slapping hits that demand you move your body as filtered vocal sounds bring the soul.

'Remember The Violets' closes down with another signature DaRand Land groove - it's stripped back and raw as it rocks back and forth. A moody bassline adds weight while you're encouraged to gaze into the distance at the pixelated chords that bring a bittersweet sense of emotion.

DaRand Land once again taps into meaningful house depths that work on cosy dancefloors but also more intimate listening environments.
