Canvas was born Xavier Miguel Diaz in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, New York on July 13, 1991. He first began writing poems at the age of 10 at a dark time in his life. By age 12 he had transitioned his writing skills into rhymes and slowly became the rap/hip-hop artist he is today. In addition to writing, he has mastered the art of freestyling, a skill that is scarce in our current generation of mainstream rappers. Although his style is unique and in a class of its own, it can be described as a form of classic 90's hip-hop with his major influences being some of the greats including Jay-Z, Nas, T.I., and Big Pun to name a few. Midway through high school he moved to West Palm Beach, FL where he currently resides with his children.

Black was born on August 22, 1991 and grew up in the Bronxdale Projects in Bronx, NY. He was born Lyndell Anthony Joseph Edwards after his father and his father's best friend, who passed away shortly before he was born. Originally, his father and another close friend were known as Black and Blue around the neighborhood and eventually the name Black was passed on to Lyndell after his father. Black has been writing rhymes since the young and impressionable age of just 8 years old with Blue being his original influence. Recognizing a natural gift in Black, Blue taught him how to utilize his writing skills successfully. His style of rap is comparable to some big-name artists such as Jadakiss, Juelz Santana, and Beanie Sigel. In 2012, Black moved to South Florida where he decided to boost his music career and pursue his dream as an artist. In addition to his music, he has launched his own clothing line, Top 5ive.
