Black River Bell is about to release his debut single ‘The Blackbirds’ a haunting ballad, which blurs the lines between folk, dream pop and classical minimalism.

The track was recorded by producer and multi-instrumentalist Greg Townley at Mr. Tambourine Man Studio in Manly and mastered by King Willy Sound (Gotye, The Middle East).

Written at the tail end of a period of acute inner turmoil and heartache. Timothy had recently moved back home near the ocean, after an isolated year spent living in the city. As Tim explains, “The empty trains and faceless buildings offered no respite and I neither had the knowledge or intuition as to how I might help myself. Fortunately I found sanctuary in song.”

‘The Blackbirds' explores the darkness that only love can heal, highlighting the cruel irony that you can neither love yourself or anyone else when you're trapped in that spiraling mindset.

New single 'The New World' is the first track to be previewed from Black River Bell's long awaited debut album 'The Great Unknowing', set for release in March 2020. Conjuring a dystopian vision of the Earth being ravaged by climate change, ‘The New World’ instantly lures listeners into this dark scenario with its opening lyrics: ‘When the seas are rising, will you float so gracefully, or will you barely keep your head above?’ Blurring the lines between slowcore and dream pop, this track reveals a future ravaged by our failure to act. A descent into unknown territory, haunted by the echoes of a once beautiful Earth.
