Tokyo resident and Jansen Jarden honcho Max Essa has been making music since the early 90's, he has produced tracks and remixes for labels like Paper, D-Vision, Bear funk, Nang and Tirk... His own solo work, Midnight Garden and Continental Drift feature not only his production work but his elegant guitar playing. (as does his remix of Apollo Heights!) Back to the Beach released from Continental Drift was a huge record and is emblematic of Max's cosmic and crisp production style. In addition to his playing and producing Max is also a serious DJ as his guest set here shows.

UK underground legend Richard Sen's career spans over 20 years of DJ & production work. One of the first wave of serious UK train graf writers, Richard gained notoriety with his musical projects Padded Cell and Bronx Dogs. He has also done production and remix work for LCD Soundsystem, Bryan Ferry, Saint Etienne and The Jungle Brothers amongst others. Richard is an amazing DJ who's style has a dark soulful and psychedelic edge that comes through in the broad range of music he plays. (I had him play my birthday party, he's friggin awesome!) VIBRATIO)))NS is back from a summer hiatus with a very special mix that's soundtracked many of those days. This one's an ode to slow days & warm nights, courtesy of one of my favorite djs: DJ, vinyl head, radio host at @ida_radio &  co-founder of Tallinn's Lost and found: @erkinantov 

I've met Erkin through music, as always. From online interactions to dance floors, you immediately know he's one of the real ones. He's passionate about discovering, sharing & playing music, unrestricted by genres or styles. That's in essence everything that VIBRATIO)))NS is about, & what you'll experience in his contribution to this series: warmth, effortlessness, & movement characterized with a smile.

Earlier this year I had the absolute joy of playing B2B with him in Estonia. It was our first time playing together, we didn't discuss anything we were going to play, & what flourished from it was a joyful 7hrs that felt so utterly effortless. I can't express to you how rare & special a connection like that can be.

Here's the mix in his own words:

"This mix is all about the flow of music from sunset to sunrise, no matter the season or the weather outside. One-take recording with no idea what track or record would come next. The setup was simple - two turntables, one CDJ, an Alpha Recording System rotary mixer and a pair of Klipsch LaScala horn speakers as monitors. In terms of sound, this setup gives the music a kind of special presence. Not loud but precise and soulful. Think Nicky Siano, Frankie Knuckles or Larry Levan - they all used horn-driven speakers for a reason. But I didn’t stay in that musical era. I added some fresh air and new sounds, and of course, several tracks from my home country, Estonia. Hope you enjoy the ride."

Whodamanny has been releasing colorful and evocative club compositions as part of his Periodica sublabel Biloba, and now, with ‘Onda Biloba’, the dynamic DJ and producer expands on these sounds with a full length exploration that overflows with vibrant textures of world dance exotica and paradise pop balearica, resulting in one of his most ambitious and adventurous releases so far.

Recorded at his Biloba studio, the album is a sunburst bounty of groove, with downtempo jams alive with searing fuzz leads, expressive vocal interplay and seascape synth solos giving way to deviant disco in a dayglo dreamscape. Loved up lyrical spells play against Hi-NRG hedonism while sunburnt saxophones scream, and subtropical nights are soundtracked by amalgamations of sultry summer samba and blazing funk fusion. Equatorial house beats move the body beneath a pan-cultural carnival parade and fantasy flutes fly over stretches of slow dubby dream balladry while elsewhere flashes of sax, drum, and piano create a body burning fire of sweat, movement, and motion.
