Black Dolphin Mistral

Black Dolphin a London based music producer brings together the other-wordly atmospheres of Electronica and the spirit of punk. Colouring in this soundscape is the distinct sound of his voice, sultry in style it weaves and curls around the the organic rhythms and textures of the intricate production.

Black Dolphin draws from ambient to alternative, trance, through to trip-hop, and blends artfully cross-cultural genres into a myriad of richly crafted audio that radiates warmth, fragility and sensibility.

Influenced by the Detroit techno pioneers The Belleville Three and Chicago House DJ’s and producers and early UK based experimental pioneers such as Renegade Soundwave, The Orb, Leftfield and Tricky and infused with the magical dust of the ethereal.

Over the years Black Dolphin has released music under different monikers his Effike project being the most prominent during the nighties. Under Effike his most notable songs ‘Kindred’ garnered a remix by the effervescent DJ and Producer Dave Angel and ‘KD’ (Kaleidoscope Damage) received a remix by Full Moon Scientist and Eamonn Megadog brother of Michael Dog of the influential imprint Planet Dog, home to acts such as Banco De Gaia and Eat Static. ‘KD’ received extensive plays at Club Dog and Wirl-Y-Gig and other club nights and raves, both legal and illegal. 

Black Dolphin would like to state for the record that he did not knowingly participate in any illegal raves and strongly was opposed to his music being associated with any such debauchery and lawlessness, For all the rumours floating around at the time of Efficke missing for days on end coinciding with these parties, well that’s just Biology and everyday begins with a new Sunrise.

Both ‘Kindred’ and ‘KD’ gained airplay by the late and legendary DJ John Peel on his Radio 1 show.

Although Black Dolphin has remained low-key for over a decade he has not been idle, on the contrary he has been held up in the studio meticulously tinkering on analogue synthesisers and old school effects boxes shaping sounds and crafting new songs of which, some are ready to see the light of day,
