This song is not throwing any shots or anything at anybody. I think it's just a real life look into really two separate thought processes as you attempt to comprehend what has happened.

Here's a joint I had in the vault that explained the night i woke up in the middle of the night and almost died right in front of my Mom as my life energy was being drained from my body. That night changed my outlook on life and started my whole positivity movement.

Almost Died Ft. Eli Lefty

So I promised y'all a story back in November, and it is now May 2nd so I'm going to tell it just as I intended to tell y'all on my Birthday.

"I just want to say thank you to everyone who wished me well as well a Happy Birthday. I appreciate you taking time out of your day to do that, and a special shout out to the Meme Team for the love and gifts.

Today I got a special gift that I could have never expected. Many of you know my Grandma passed away from Cancer 2 years ago today exactly a week before I graduated from college. I was really shook because she was supposed to see me graduate. They told me she wanted me to stay to finish school and walk across that stage even though I wanted to hop in the car and drive 12 hours to be there; a decision I still haunt myself with today.

 I remember how much stress I was under during that last semester man, knowing my Grandmother was supposed to be fine, and then all of a sudden she was too far gone to be saved; only to find out she was gone overnight. I remember being in the studio EVERY NIGHT until 5 and 6 in the morning working on my school project for my Recording studio class and having class a few hours later, going to volunteer at the boys and girls club (y'all know Cory loves the kids), and then coming back for late night class before coaching my basketball team, and then going right back to the studio to start the process over again. I remember finally getting back to Atlanta after graduation, and seeing my Grandmother's obituary as the first thing I saw when I walked in my parent’s home. I straight up collapsed and the tears started flowing man. My mom picked me up off the floor and just held me man. I can't remember a time where I was that weak. I guess all the emotions I wasn't able/allowed to feel during that semester finally caught up to me. I haven't been able to write a song since she passed 2 years ago.

 Anyhow, I looked everywhere to find a photo of us and so did my parents, and there was not a single photo of her and me together. We looked through every photo album and phone we could find, yet we found nothing. My Dad even went as far as to even physically cut out a picture of me and glue it next to my Grandma (lmao he doesn't know how to Photoshop y'all)  . Somehow, someway, Helen found a picture of us together and got it framed for me. To my knowledge that is the only existing photo of us together. I can't tell y'all what that means to man, and I really can't thank you enough for giving me something to make that burden on my conscience a little lighter. 

Shortly after that, I heard this instrumental that Charles Hamilton rapped on with Chris Young an immediately I felt this weird feeling come over me (I believe some call it inspiration) and then I began to write, and write until all of my thoughts of how I felt about myself being the ONLY member of the family to miss the funeral, and other thoughts that plagued my mind. I'm sure that half of Virginia Beach was there, because she touched so many lives even when she didn't have anything for herself. So I ended up messaging my favorite musician/rapper/blogger and the list goes on Charles Hamilton about the instrumental for the song. Boy was I surprised when he actually responded with the beat name and producer. I explained to him how I wanted to rap the verse to her when I go to visit her grave site for the first time later this month, and he was more than happy to help me out (that message is written into the lyric metadata of the song tag).

So, on the anniversary of her passing, I want to share with y'all the first song/verse I have been able to write in two years.

For once, I actually don't have much to say. Basically, someone who looked up to me musically (*cough J FoldUm cough*) said he would drop something if I did. I was very humbled by his consideration of me being like a mentor to him, even though that is not how I see myself. Since I've retired I haven't made any new music, so I said why not drop a joint from the "album" I was working on before I hung it up a few years back... Really I'm interested to see what he's been working on all of this time (haha). ALSO, Almon Gold has been telling me to drop this joint because he thought it was fire; and as per usual I disagreed.

Damn, look at that I do have something to say. Quick backstory is that I made this song/album because I wanted to be honest and transparent with my listeners about my life, where I came from, my mistakes and lessons. Instrumentally, I just wanted this to sound like a mixture between an Anime opening and closing and a main character's triumph. I could go on and on about other stories associated with this song, but I'll end it here.
