The theme that inspired me for this EP was the KT extinction, which was when three-quarters of species on earth were killed by an asteroid, including all of the dinosaurs. The asteroid caused a lot of death and destruction, but it also lead to evolution by the species that managed to survive. It wasn’t just the asteroid that killed them, but also the effect the impact had on the earths atmosphere creating a condition which only specific species could survive.  

I think electronic music has been going through a similar change over the past 10 years. Instead of it being an asteroid that caused the massive change, it’s technological advancement in the production of music. With DAW’s and computers being more powerful than ever and VSTs that have been and are still being created for so many different functions, doors are being opened to the creation of music and sounds like we’ve never heard. Like the increase in evolution after the KT event, innovation in dance music has spurred because of this external force.

Since June/July, so many have asked about the release, even I don't know what happened. I approached this remix with a more stripped back approach - as it's what I felt the original commanded. The focus was keeping the audio acoustic-based: drums, choirs, percussion - all whilst bending James' original samples out of context. I love it, and it's paved the way for the more acoustic sound I've adopted whilst working on my 4th EP. So, until I get asked to remove it, stream here
