The first single from the Austin/Gothenburg-based lo-fi pop/shoegazers comes out on November 17th, 2017

Routine Death began in 2015 when two musicians, one in Gothenburg Sweden and one in Austin Texas, started sending music to each other. The result is a full-length LP written in two bedrooms 7,000 miles apart, entitled ”Parallel Universes”. The band’s love for lo-fi soundscapes, atmospheric tones and distortion shines through, forming a solid foundation for the songs. The album is a concept-album sonically – but most of all, it’s a collection of songs with melancholic yet strong melodies. Fans of shoegaze, lo-fi pop and psychedelia will enjoy discovering Routine Death, and their debut album truly is a hidden gem. But not for long: ”Parallel Universes” is due out in the spring of 2018.

The first single from the album, “Life Inside a Vacuum”, is inspired by the feeling of being constantly on the move but never really going anywhere, like walking on a constantly shifting side walk. The driving, stuttering drum beat almost feels like it was designed to make your mind stumble a bit before the rhythm settles in your brain and your feet begins to tap the groove.

Routine Death - Charm Tooth

When listening to the Gothenburg based act Seabiscuit, you enter a strange little world of its own. The sounds captivate you and suck you in, and once you're in – you want to stay there and hide forever. You find yourself enjoying the forgotten soundtrack of a suggestive retro video game that never existed, combined with lo-fi guitars playing mystical adorable notes. The atmosphere created by the music tells you a story, and you can almost see it pan out in front of you. A distorted drum beat is blasting away in the horizon, and dreamy crisp chords are spreading out across the vivid coloured sky. You like it here. This could definitely be your home. Here comes the next song, and it's a beautiful lonely guitar strumming away in the darkness, sounding as if it was played in another time. I'll never leave this place, you think to yourself while closing your eyes tighter and tighter.

Seabiscuit - End Up Dead

In a dark space between 80s/90s shoegaze and electronic music, we find Isoberlinia. This new duo from Stockholm has created a perfect collection of songs that sounds so good that it would be a crime not to release it. 

Their soundscape is built upon atmospheric soothing guitars driven by electronic beats, creating an almost trip hop-feeling, and embedded within is a voice that's as soft as it is enigmatic. 

Isoberlinia's combination of reverb-drenched guitars and electronic elements reminds us of acts such as The Bowery Electric, Sneaker Pimps, Memoryhouse and Slowdive, but they still have a distinct sound of their own that's completely unique.
