My project description as follows:



Leroy Moore’s Self Portrait by Ottis Smith entitled From Baby to Elder: Slow Eugenics  with poetry hip-hop track with the same title, Slow Eugenics

Leroy might not be the first one to use this term, Slow Eugenics, where the outcome is still death but it is an ongoing process to deliver you to death.  These anti poverty laws, profiling, the rolling back of civil rights, the gentrification of cities with high rents, with more funding for police and on and on is what Leroy now call Slow Eugenics.  Leroy  hired Ottis Smith to do a painting of his experiencing Slow Eugenics at birth and at age fifty in a visual art piece with two sets of people, i.e. doctors and police officers.

The vision of Leroy Moore’s Self Portrait by Ottis Smith entitled From Baby To Elder: Slow Eugenics has put two pictures together with doctors in white suits surrounded baby leroy and another pic with Leroy as an elder on his bike with cops surrounded him.  All of Leroy’s vision will come together in one high resolution jpeg. This will be a high resolution drawing showing different version of soft  slow eugenics with doctors when he was born with cerebral palsy saying he will die or just be vegetables and second picture of Leroy in his fifties on his three wheel bike surround by police officers.  True stories!

Walk Different (Inspired by Kendrick Lamar- A cappella)

Dear Hip-Hop,    

We, Krip-Hop Nation, an international collective of Hip-Hop artists and other musicians with disabilities, am writing this letter to you to not only give thanks for a platform but also to push this artistic international multi billion dollar movement/industry to become more politically aware and play an active role with us to reeducate the Hip-Hop and music industry/ culture and our communities about not only the ableism in Hip-Hop but our politics and talents.  Hip-Hop must go pass the charity model of disability to step up to what Krip—Hop Nation calls politically and culturally disabled with disability justice and Krip-Hop politics, language, international solidarity. 

This process of unlearning of ableism and the charity model of disability will take rebuilding relationships within the disability community knowing that although Hip-Hop from the beginning gave us a platform to not only see and express ourselves at the same time Hip-Hop has become an ableist and harmful environment for not only disabled especially physically disabled artists but people with disabilities who want to work in Hip-Hop like journalism, scholars, TV show hosts and more.

Musicians with disabilities have always been here however there has been a lack of cultural activism especially in Hip-Hop with a disability justice platform to not only advocate but to continue to display the talents of musicians with disabilities & at the same time advocate & celebrate our history, intersectional cultures & to politically educate ourselves & our communities locally, nationally & internationally.

For 15 years Krip-Hop Nation has provided public education through our music CDs, lectures, workshops, youtube conversations, short video clips, activism, visual arts, articles and political education locally and internationally. We have made strives however it has been outside of the mainstream Hip-Hop arena so we are pushing ourselves in 2021 and beyond to collaborate to Hip-Hop popular arena to help to make Hip-Hop more open politically, culturally environment where disabled Hip-Hop artists/activists, journalists, scholars can not only work in but can be proud to share and welcome others like them into Hip-Hop especaily now  as Hip-Hop celebrates  it’s 50th anniversary.

You ask how? Krip-Hop Nation knows that this process has to be bigger than a one time event it must be an ongoing process with local, national and international not only Hip-Hop artists but Hip-Hop organizations, international partners like the United Nation and others. It can start off as a conference that will spell out goals of this ongoing reeducation with materials like books, films, curriculum and media campaigns etc… Knowing that people with disabilities around the world are the poorest of the poor, Krip-Hop Nation knows if we want to make an impact that will change attitudes, institutional beliefs and actions it must be well funded and uplifted by local to international organizations and spokespersons.

Are you committed to partner with Krip-Hop Nation and pulling in resources and institutional backing to spread Krip-Hop Nation’s mission, work and not only organize and hold this conference but most importantly to accomplish what comes out of this conference with Krip-Hop Nation leadership? One of our big goals is to open what we call the Krip-Hop Institute in LA  because    now Krip-Hop has partnered with UCLA and because I’m a  graduate student at UCLA they have put disability center in their new Hip-Hop initiative.  We have work to do and this event, speaking on Ableism On Hip-Hop: Krip-Hop Artists Drop Knowledge & Lyrics and this letter that I’m reading are only the beginning.  We hope you will learn from our letter and this event and then join us in doing the work!

All this talk, pedagogies and books
Using rhymes and hooks
Can’t grow if you don’t get to the roots
Hip-Hop are the leaves of this tree

Teachers want to see pride
They might have to feel uncomfortable at times
Have to deal with their own racism & ableism
Because we know that most teachers are White

Black Stupid Superstar!

Black Disabled Resistance Part 2

In 2021 I did part one of Black Disabled Resistance. I tried to define it so you can go back and listen to part one. It is February 2024 and I’m here to do part two of Black Disabled Resistance. In this episode I want to deal with three Black disabled men

1. Elias Hill (1819-1872)
2. Cecil Ivory (1921-1961)
3. Al Hibbler (1915-2001)

Before we get to the bio of all three men, let’s talk about what they have in common beyond being Black disabled men.

As you will see all three were activists. Two were born with their disabilities aka Elias, Ivory and Al Hibbler. Two were preachers in South Carolina, Elias was Baptist preacher in York County, South Carolina and Ivory was a pastor at Hermon Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

All of them were oppressed by White supremacy in a time of Jim Crow and before Jim Crow like Elias Hill (1819-1872). Like I said all three lead their people in protest like sit-ins at lunch counter and Ivory led s a group of Black people from South Carolina to Arthington Liberia, Africa.


Elias Hill after taking the KKK to court he knew that he and his people lives were never going to be safe even after the successful court a case against the KKK.

I had a wonderful chance to interview Rev. Sam McGregor and Patricia to talk about the grave of Rev. Elias Hill in the backyard of the church that led to them to uncover Elias’ history and his leadership etc..

""The most remarkable man in South Carolina," Rev. Elias Hill (1819-1871) who was disabled & became a Baptist preacher, Union League Leader and educator of freedman. On May 5, 1871, the Ku Klux Klan terrorized Rev. Hill and family. His testimony before Congress helped President Grant declare martial law in 9 counties of the South Carolina Upcountry and effectively drive the KKK from the state.”

On November 1, 1871, Elias Hill led a group of 167 freedmen to Arthington, Liberia, where they began lives as planters and political leaders.

Before leaving for Liberia, he sold 51 acres of land to my family, which held 28 members of Rev. Hill's family in bondage.

On March 13, 1871, I travelled to Arthington, Liberia, along with 4 members from Allison Creek Presbyterian Church, in search of Rev. Elias.

In his testimony before Congress, Elias Hill explained his family’s reason for leaving the United States: “We do not believe it possible, from the past history and present aspect of affairs, for our people to live in this country peaceably, and educate and elevate their children to that degree which they desire.”

I did had a chance to talk to a family member of Cecil Ivory but I never published it compared to Elias Hill who you just read that I had a chance to do a whole radio show on him.

Reverend Cecil Augustus Ivory, a name that may be new to many, but in the context of 1960s Rock Hill, South Carolina, played a major role in the early Black civil rights movement from his wheelchair. Now Ivory is recognized as an early leader of a particularly influential local civil rights movement. He was also chair of the NAACP.

Got A Letter From The Government (2023)

Dear Ancestor, Cedric Robinson,

First thank you for your work! I have learned so much. As a Black disabled man I have questions. I listened to your seminal book, Black Marxism: The Making of the Black Radical Tradition and I wonder what are your thoughts are about the Black disabled body and mind? I realize you are arguing against Karl Marx and Marxism so I wonder if you share Marx’s view on the disabled body and the social model of disability? I know in your time (1940-2016), the disability movement only started in the 1970’s. Knowing that you grew up in Oakland, California, I wonder did you know about the disability rights movement? You knew about the Black Panther Party so I wonder if you knew of Brad Lomax and the involvement in the disability movement? It’s interesting that you attended UC Berkeley in 1963 and were involved in campus activism for Black studies and advocating for Malcolm X to speak on campus because only a couple years later after your attendance came a White disabled young man, who organized a group of disabled, Rolling Quads (which I think they started out all White) and Ed Roberts of 1969. Interesting connection.

I want to return to your book, Black Marxism: The Making of the Black Radical Tradition. I have noticed that Karl Marx had thoughts about the disabled body relating to capitalism. I won’t go deep into his perspective on the disabled body in capitalism, but in short because the disabled body was seen as a “non-worker,” his writings on the disabled body are basically seen as a result of pushing the non-disabled body until it becomes disabled through unsafe working conditions. Knowing that the social model of disability was created by a White UK man, as I have written in my thesis, I wonder how disability would be seen through the lens of the Black Radical Tradition? This is my work, to try to put your ideas into conversation with today’s growing Black disabled politics, activism, art, music and radical and academic thinking. By writing and organizing in the Black community, and in academia, my aim is to bring Black Studies together with Disability Studies with the radical goal of disability justice for Black and other marginalized communities worldwide.

Fact or Fiction,disability has become invisible with the recent writing, speaking of Jim Crow. Eat My Disability

New single and video gives empowerment and corrects the history of Black disabled men, Black Disabled Man.  Black Disabled Man track is a collaboration between three Black disabled men, Leroy F. Moore Jr. who wrote the lyrics and spoke/rap them, Keith Jones who made the beats and mixed it and Emmitt Thrower who put together the video of the song.

The track, Black Disabled Man, is supposed to be a one way conversation between an elder Black disabled man to a young Black disabled man who starts out ashamed of and tries to hide his disability but the elder Black disabled man shares the history of harsh brutality to Blues to lynching to the appropriation of disability in Hip-Hop thus how we kept going on knowing that we as Black disabled men helped create a lot in a spoken word rap song. It's, the song, suppose to be uplifting and at the same time educating not only him but his Black and disabled community around him.

Leroy Moore, Keith Jones and Emmitt Thrower, three Black disabled men, once again teamed up under Krip-Hop Nation to offer another deep and empowering track/video for their Black and disabled communities and for everybody. The video has been caption by Cheryl Green.  Written lyrics below.
