The title track, „City Hopper,“ and „Talk to Me“ were created after my first trip to South America in late 2022, where I visited and played in multiple cities over two months. The track name, „City Hopper,“ pays homage to the lifestyle of hopping from one city to another to showcase my music to a wider audience. „Talk to Me“ was intended to be an opening tool that I could play in my sets to set the mood. I wanted to make some classic house music, approaching it like I used to. I sat down at my MPC Live2 and did what I like doing the most: lining up some drums, getting the loop going, adding some chords and a funky baseline, and chopping up some vocals until it all came together as one cohesive construct that I later called the City Hopper EP.

Hardwear Based Production [HWBP] is a research project that focuses exclusively on hardwear-based music production.
In addition to the regular releases, various ideas and works from different subgenres are published under this ongoing project.  
MPCSP01 is the debut release.

This track was produced and arranged exclusively on the Akai MPC2000XL. It was mixed using the Soundcraft Signature 22 MTK and then heavily compressed in the Roland SP404A.  
This results in a characteristic, noisy and dirty lo-fi sound typical for this type of low-resolution music.

Since this is an experimental project, this and all subsequent works will be offered on donation basis on the Bandcamp account of highfield.

“Acid Memories” follows - a sun-faded photograph of Balearic reverie where acid is no longer a weapon but a watercolor brush. The 303 doesn't stab; it melts. It weaves through synth lines like heat rising off a Mediterranean road, where every hi-hat is a sigh and every chord progression smells faintly of sea salt and warm skin. This isn’t a track, it’s a mirage: just out of reach and utterly intoxicating.
