"This mix was recorded especially for Avenue Red and covers sounds from more expressive and ambient tracks, evolving to something more mental and strong techno. Then going through the middle for some things a little softer and more delicate. It's like a reflection or a mirror of what I've always absorbed from electronic music and the way I feel and express it in my works as a DJ. An example of this is my two weekly radio shows with two different aspects but that at a certain point can cross and also the other participations and collaborations that I do whenever possible.

The middle of the party is totally his place. Four years ago he got the idea to jump behind the decks from the bar and everything fell into place incredibly well.
House has a special place in his soul and it was where he started his mixing, but currently he is most excited by energy-packed groovy techno, crazy trance and wild, accelerated, tribal vibes. It is very likely that he will mix all of that during one set, because he doesn't like boredom and creates playlists loosely guided by the vibe, not a specific genre.
A lot of smiles, even more energy, seasoned with a pinch of ADHD is a mixture that flows from the DJ booth and which strongly defines the style of the mix.

Chizawa Q Announces New R&S Album & Drops First Single ‘Beluga’

Japanese producer and beat maker Chizawa Q makes his long-awaited return to R&S with the announcement of new album ‘Xenoverse’ and release of the first single a collaboration with Masaki Sakamoto ‘Beluga’.
 
Chizawa Q has long been on the radar of the pioneering Belgian label, originally releasing his ‘Lost Asia’ EP with them in 2006, which was rebooted with a new mix in 2022. His return to the label with ‘Beluga’ and upcoming album is testament to R&S’s reputation of maintaining strong relationships with cutting edge-artists.
 
R&S have always broken the mould throughout their catalogue of releases, championing music that pushes the envelope of electronic music and dares to be different, and the album, and first single ‘Beluga’, is no exception.
 
The track starts with a tribal rhythm and deep, brooding vocal that sets the moody tone early on. Shuffling hats and a rolling music loop emerge, driving the track forward, before jazzy stabs help to establish a solid groove.

The inspiration of Detroit Techno icons such as Underground Resistance and Kenny Larkin, as well as European jazz Techno stalwarts Steve Rachmad and Dave Angel, is clear to see through ‘Beluga’, with more than a nod to the old-school and contemporary.

This isn’t cookie cutter Techno with rinse and repeat drops, it is genuine contemporary jazz. This is an innovative musician exploring his craft and pushing musical boundaries through his exploration in sound. In that respect, Chizawa Q and R&S are a match made in heaven, as the label ethos continues to favour brave, avant-garde artists over acts with a large following. 

The accompanying music video for ‘Beluga’ reflects that, with trippy, film noir visuals that mirror the abstract tone of the song. 
 
Looking ahead to the album, expect a deep-dive down a rabbit hole that traverses a wide electronic spectrum. With collaborations on ‘Xenoverse’ from the likes of Masaki Sakamoto, Kowalewski and Dan Sama, and remixes from Makoto Shimizu, Chizawa Q is at the forefront of an increasing number of artists making strides in the burgeoning Japanese electronic music scene, and ‘Beluga’ is a small sample of what listeners can expect from the full, emotive album experience.

Die DAVE OFF hatte dieses Jahr ein besonderes Highlight parat. Zur DAVE Live Jam haben Malena, Raev, Sablin, Sverra und Insect O. ihre Synthesizer im Mainfloor vom Sektor Evolution aufgebaut. Zwei Stunden haben sie zusammen live gespielt. Über den Synthesizern schwebte ein Würfel mit Visuals von Renderdich und ringsherum tanzten die Gäste zu 138+ bpm Techno.

Next up we welcome Kutkh Jackdaw, a Scottish producer and DJ, now based in Brighton, whose productions take influence from a wide variety of different genres, from post-punk, EBM (Electronic body music is a genre of electronic music that combines elements of industrial music and synth-punk with elements of dance music), darkwave to synth, techno and even traditional tribal music and dub. He uses a range of techniques including a heavy use of inventive sampling, combined with extensive use of vintage 80’s hardware. Not only that, Kutkh is also part of running a Brighton night Acid Reflux.

Double Sound² present the 6th part of Find Your Electronic Music mix series. Our next guest is the producer from Italy, founder of vinyl only Move and Understand label and co-owner with Andrea Bigi of vinyl only BAL label - @lmariuslaurentiu also known as Mau. 

This is his first published mix consisting of his own tracks, including the edit in collaboration with @marcomalpeso. 

Mau. has releases on such labels as BAL, @bprecs, @memoriarecordings, @inwaveimprint, his own Move and Understand and others. 

Mau. is a project which was born by exploring and going through the most elegant shades of house and techno music. Both artist and label follow the two main elements: ''move'' dancing rhythms, and ''understand'' mind tripping and hypnotic melodies. The concept goes beyond the two genres combining dub, jazz, funk and gloomy melodies with a minimal and techno background.

BLAC Koncept (FUMP)

BLAC Koncept is a 196cm tall enigma serving up futuristic tribalism, funk, soul and powerful beats guaranteed to make you shake ya thing. As a DJ and producer he has played to packed dance floors at legendary Australian clubs such as the Bass Station, Melbourne Techno Massive, Pure Flow, Every Picture, Psynapse, Virus and Kronik. He has also performed at festivals such as Earthcore, Earth Frequency and Dark Forest.

He has been putting smiles on faces and asses on d-floors for over 25 years now within the music scene. Some of the international Techno luminaries he has opened for include Richie Hawtin, Sven Väth, Eric Powell, DJ La Di Da, Dave The Drummer, Artech, Knobs and Hefty.

He also became a resident for the exclusive Veludo's Club and teamed up with DJ and producer Benjamin Phillipe Zulauf under the moniker ‘Dirty Soul Bruthas’ to release on Dutch imprint Minimal Records, which featured the soulful vocals of Candace Monique. The track was well received in the house scene and made the rotation of Saw Records owner DJ Hector Romero.
