Drum & bass stalwarts Black Sun Empire are to follow up a trio of recent EPs from The Upbeats, Neonlight and Pythius with the release of ‘Until The World Ends’ - a five-track, collaborative EP with NZ duo State Of Mind. Lead single ‘Ego’ will be released on 7th December via their genre-defining Blackout imprint, drawing an end to a prolific 2014 for the label. 

‘Ego’ immediately sets the tone for the rest of the EP, with growling bass lines and punchy synth-stabs underpining dark, techy atmospherics and vocal loops. Skittering melodics then give way to signature frenetic beats and firing drums to round off proceedings in style.

Blackout have built a reputation for curating their own brand of dark, neurofunk-inspired drum & bass over the past 12 months and this collaboration with long-term collaborators State Of Mind - who released their latest album ‘Eat The Rich’ via Blackout earlier this year - feeds into the hype already surrounding the label moving into 2015.

Agressor Bunx have been setting the standard recently. Whether it's on seminal drum & bass imprint Ram Records, or the underground torch holder Eatbrain, they've settled themselves within the discography of every major label running the game. And they're about to return with four fresh cuts which bring some serious heat, once again platforming the cut throat sound which has made them so infamous.

‘The Curse' EP, out on innovative imprint Ignescent Recordings, stands as both a pivotal release for both artist and label. Founded in 2015, they're beginning to push their way into a league with the heavyweights and with the help of Agressor Bunx, it's not difficult to see why. Already making their mark with Ukrainian underground figures such as NickBee, Ignescent have slowly been refining their sound; this next title proves their stature.

Title-track ‘The Curse' throws you synapses first through a wormhole of fury, featuring a soundtrack of mean bass and crispy drums. With a hook that grabs you on first listen, it accelerates during the intro before allowing you to freefall through constructed chaos. Dirty, dark and filled with neurofunk vibes, it exposes a production standard which has ensured their notoriety.

Next up, ‘Scream' shadows the same pattern, cranking up the gears and taking you into even shadier depths. However, instead throwing out an incessant hook, its thrashing drum patterns drag you through an arrangement heightened by each break. Agressor Bunx punches through to your musical receptors, taking them hostage and leaving you unable to escape their grasp.

Reminiscing on the older times, ‘Déjà vu' follows suit. Steeped in jungle-esque breakdowns, it's different from the vast range of production they've showcased. With precise form, they hit again and again with seismic results. Growling reeses pedal you even further into the fire, letting their deadly intentions take hold.

And finally, comes ‘Overwatch'… Its stabs and blaring subs stand out clearly, gradually building a foundation of infallible weight. They revert yet again to a style which reciprocates the old school, showing that despite their contemporary reign over neuro, they're also well read on their history. It's this background which has enabled them to surge forward, a movement which isn't looking to be stopped anytime soon.

One year on from the launch of their inaugural “Rotation” programme, Addictive Behaviour’s various-artist shuttle orbits earth once more. On board this time, a crew of 21 intrepid pioneers, bringing with them a diverse spectrum of musicality and D&B engineering expertise to the quest. Armed, locked and loaded with an assault of sophisticated phonic weaponry, their mission is simple. Audio annihilation!

This 2nd chapter to Addictive Behaviour’s dynamic album series is their most ambitious project to date. An otherworldly journey showcasing an edgy and explosive array of raw talent from a collective of old and new artists from the Addictive camp. Embarking on this Rotation, and making their label debut is an impressive ensemble of well-known names as well as fresh up and coming, cutting edge producers. Nick Bee rains in the darker, techy vibes with his “Ghetto Politics”, as do Kyrist & Babarix in their obliterating “Maikuro Funk” collab. Meanwhile, Release, Tephra & Arkoze, Data 3 & Modu provide their own unique variations, beaming with moody subs and percussive vibes, encapsulating the Addictive Behaviour tone to great effect. Philth adds a fresh, melodic, vocal composition to the deep end of the mix in “The Big Question” whilst Dom & Roland’s Xanadu is commissioned for remixing duties delivering an explosive new take on Detail’s “Breakout”.

Talking of which, joining the new recruits on this expedition, long term label regulars Detail & L 33 step into the fray, flexing their elements of neuro-tech styles and adding momentum to this growing satellite of revolving music production. Also on board this charter, some recent Addictive additions. Mystic State’s “Eye Contact” and Nami’s “Downpour” push the audio transit on with their bass fuelled roller’s rocketing us in to unknown territory.

Finally, kicking in the afterburn, are the Rotation – Part One veterans. Artifact returns with another relentless aural display in “Materialist” whilst Fade brings a heavy metallic attack in “Hold Tight” Finishing off the universal carnage TR Tactics are joined by relative label newcomers The Clamps to bring us a full on neuro assault in “Conscious”.

Rotation –Part Two will be making it’s re-entry in to Earth’s atmosphere on September the 30th. The 14 track LP is an awe-inspiring amalgamation of complex layered productions showing us once again the label’s ability to evolve. An immersive and varied, frontier pushing display with one unifying theme echoing from its core once again. . . Good quality production.
