Epiphany - The finale. Epiphany is exactly what is sounds like. This track has huge symphony like sound design. It's one of those tunes where you just sit back and think deep about what you've got going on. The project as a whole, started with this song. 4 months ago I made this, and while listening, came to the realization that Producing and Mixing is what I want to do for the rest of my life. Not just to be in the limelight. Not for money, fame, or recognition. Music is my, self expression method, allowing me to convey what I'm feeling, without having to come up with the words for it. I just hope that anyone listening, feels the same, and sees me for me.

Shattering the silence of the night with the abrasive roar of refined combustion and the precisely engineered mechanisms of their vehicles, the streets fly beneath them - acting as one, every corner taken with nothing to spare, utterly in the present - surgeons of the moment. The drones giving chase have no chance, unable to compensate for the perfectly calculated errors of humanity, every recalibration coming too late - THE CHASE is relentless and swift ... the immaculate pair vanish into the dense depths of the labyrinthine underworld with their haul of sonic artifacts.

Featuring original tracks drawn from the catalogues of NEUROPUNK RECORDS heavyweights including Mizo, Gydra, & Teddy Killerz, and reimagined by Joe Ford, Levela, & Crissy Criss, NEUROPUNK REMIXED V1 delivers a trio of tracks that span a wide portion of the Drum & Bass world for the label’s first such collaborative effort. 

JOE FORD steps up first to add his spin to MIZO’s sinister MECHANICAL PAW, wherein he wastes no time in unleashing an unending torrent of lashing low end frequencies that send the already furious track into an expertly overdriven frenzy. Next comes LEVELA’s remix of GYDRA & TEDDY KILLERZ’ track MILES HIGH from the label’s standout first release. Playing up the tracks funk fueled flow, the stripped back swagger of LEVELA’s signature style shines through to create a deviously dirty down low groove driven by the original’s unmistakeable vocal sample. CRISSY CRISS then takes on TEDDY KILLERZ’ MUTATION for the EP’s final remix, holding nothing back as he experiments on the track’s already massive basses to create devastating reeses and electrified stabs alike as he synthesizes a new form further befitting of its name.

With NEUROPUNK REMIXED V1, NEUROPUNK RECORDS showcase the full breadth of their label’s scope as they invite three pioneering artists to reinterpret a selection of the label’s most notable tracks. “At last, you arrive” echoed the thunderous voice that seemed to originate from the body of the temple itself. “You have displayed power, spirit, strength, and soul in getting this far, but should you wish to gain access to the hidden knowledge of this great temple, you must now face the final trial which bears no name. Precious few have reached this point, and what remains of them is now scattered across the four winds that rake at this mountain peak. Prepare yourself, adventurer, for the final trial is me.”

In reflexive response to these resounding words, the adventurer steeled themselves and braced for the impact that was sure to follow. But none such occurred, and the only assault on the adventurer’s defenses was that of unexpected silence that stung at their nerves. Still on guard, they dwelled deeper within the silence, peering into its misty recesses. There, obscured by the gusts which grazed this mountaintop, yes, there was something. The faintest sound of flesh on stone, moving slowly through the cool mountain air. Yet no creature lay before them.

Then came the shattering, a sound of incomprehensible magnitude that shot the adventurer into motion. The stone courtyard splintered before them, driving jagged shards of stone like knives beneath the adventurers feet. With a powerful leap the adventurer shot into the air, remaining suspended in levitation, a technique they had learned within the previous trial. Below them, the mountain continued to crumble and the temple fell away, revealing a magnificent serpentine form in a shower of boulders and stone slabs. Rising from the body of the mountain itself was a massive dragon, unlike any the adventurer had heard tell of even within the tales of old, and upon its head stood a shadowy form, an equal to the aura of the adventurer’s own light.

“I have kept the knowledge of this temple for thousands of years” came the voice once more, sharpened by its exposure to the alpine atmosphere. “I will not have some impudent fool steal it from me”. The great dragon reared back at its rider's command, and the adventurer concentrated their energy into a great spectral claw to match. There, the adventurer understood. Win or lose, they had gained the knowledge of the temple that they sought. This they knew in their core as they drew in to prepare a great gout of flame that would match the great dragons own.

GYDRA bring their latest single to EATBRAIN for the culmination of the saga that has seen them journey through their previous releases on the label, The Test of Power & Strength and the Test of Spirit & Soul Alike. Combining with IHR atop the peak of the power, GYDRA presents the spectacle of the BOSS FIGHT to the EATBRAIN horde as but a taste of what is to come.

The name Burr Oak should already be very familiar to Trendkill Records’ most ardent followers. The emergent drum and bass supergroup, formed of Toulouse producers Opsen and The Clamps, burst onto the scene last year, striking listeners with their intense, no-holds-barred approach to neurofunk. Drawing on their ever-innovative sound design skills and prolific work rate, the two Frenchmen crafted a whopping four releases for the Prolix-helmed label last year and have since guested on Eatbrain and Cause4Concern in 2020. Now celebrating a homecoming of sorts, October finds the pair returning to Trendkill for the Polar Lows EP, which features a seismic alliance with Austrian duo TR Tactics. 

Showcasing their production prowess, the individual contributions from each member of Burr Oak shine through over the course of the three-track project. As a former member of the innovative trio Signs, well-known for their halftime contributions to labels like Noisia’s Division, Opsen audibly leaves his mark on opener and title track “Polar Lows”, which utilises flourishes of snarling, hip-hop inspired breakbeats before searing synths launch it into a riotous climax. Meanwhile, some of the blistering basslines on show throughout the EP are well-aligned with The Clamps’ signature sound, the sum of the two’s contributions making for phenomenal results. 

Add Trendkill labelmates TR Tactics into the mix on “Washoku” and expect a four-way collaboration of epic proportions, deploying both heavyweight synth work and fleeting, atmospheric pauses. Rounding off the EP is the brooding, progressive “Intelligent Suicide”. Introduced with melancholy ambiances and subdued stabs before hurtling towards a gritty, mechanical crescendo garnished with whirring feedback and drilling basses, the song makes for one of the pair’s most intriguing creations to date, serving as a firm reminder that these two titans of the neuro scene have plenty more tricks up their sleeves.
