InsideInfo kicked off 2015 with the widely received Mushroom / The Plains single on Viper Recordings, gaining airplay from Mistajam, Friction & DJ Hype, whilst simultaneously getting smashed out in clubs by the likes of Ed Rush & Optical, Sub Focus, The Prototypes, Calyx & Teebee, Phace & Misanthrop, and Optiv & BTK. Riding off the back of this InsideInfo will lay down a DNB60 mix on Friction’s BBC Radio 1 show in September to cap off another stellar year.

Mefjus has equally had an amazing year with the launch of his Emulation LP on Critical, collaborations with Noisia & The Upbeats and remixes for the likes of Ivy Lab, as well as the recent collaboration with InsideInfo and The Upbeats on Footpath on Virus Recordings.

Together they have been smashing up headline slots at festivals all summer and as the fields start to empty they’re now ready to fill your speakers with their latest collaboration: Pulsation / Talisman.

Pulsation is a slice of technical genius that will get the chin-strokers jumping and the ladies shaking. If you took Pacman, pumped him full of steroids and got him to swim in a bath of Redbull you’re part way to getting on the right track. Quality, bouncing Drum & Bass, that’s cheeky and oh so sub heavy.

Flip side we have Talisman adding a few more coals to the fire.  It gets down dirty in all the right places and goes balls out for this full on affair. Tricky edits, thundering subs and mountain shaking breaks and beats see’s Talisman finish off this single in underground style.

With over a decade of providing the most cutting edge drum and bass the genre has produced, and after putting out monstrous release after monstrous release on the world’s leading drum and bass label Ram Records, Audio has cemented himself as one of the world’s all time heavyweights. Whether it be playing to crowds of 15,000 people at festivals such as Rampage, or at an intimate, local club, there is one thing that Audio is renowned for and that his trademark dark sound and ability to fuse elements from all ends of the spectrum and make it sound as nasty as possible.

The first track is no exception. The sinister tones of ‘Now the Future’ set in and grab hold, taking you into the mind of Audio’s twisted vision of the future. Percussive elements tick away under petrifying atmospheres, building up into an unstoppable bassline offensive. Perfectly executed pitched up drums rhythms cut through delivering an onslaught of dancefloor carnage leaving no escape.

And next up is ‘Drop It Human’. Kicking off, spine chilling and twinkling blips immerse you into the twilight zone. As the main lead filters into the build, the track thrusts into a sonic array of growling mids and low end sub grit, delivering a devastating blow. Audio’s precise, sharp, stepped trademark drum sound forms the backbone, marching the track through to inhuman perfection. 

Audio yet again sets the bar with two monstrous cuts that are set to dominate the clubs and festival circuit in 2016. Volatile Cycle, a name that is becoming firmly cemented into the upper echelons of cutting edge drum and bass is taking the scene by storm with their take on the darker end of the drum and bass spectrum. Consisting of 2 members, Dan Lawrence and James Chick, they began experimenting individually with genres such as garage and glitch hop and eventually found their niche in drum and bass. Building up their rep with a slew of releases on a number of reputable drum and bass outputs, they have worked 
their way up through the ranks to finally drop their debut LP on the seminal and beloved label Renegade Hardware. The Reaktiv LP is a masterclass in drum and music, showcasing their highly refined technical ability, yet still retaining the classic style reminiscent of the early Hardware days. Opening track ‘Wrench’ sets the tone, cutting through with razor sharp precision, whilst ‘Reckless’ and ‘Obey’ dominate the dancefloor with pulsating sub frequencies and rattling percussions. Newcomer to the scene Yen joins forces to unleash sinister undertones with ‘Forgotten Future’, whilst Russian neurofunk whizz Cod3x teams up with the duo to kill the dance with ‘Bounce. Nuklear MC puts his lyrical stamp on the track ‘Status’, a stripped back roller designed to cause maximum dancefloor damage. The Reaktiv LP is a huge milestone for Volatile Cycle. Much time had passed since that first moment of DIVERGENCE, in which one had sacrificed the joys of his existence for the betterment of all. Where once a man had stood, now a great tree remained, presiding over the village with the commanding presence of its incredible size. For years the magic of its boughs had shielded those below from harm, but time had worn upon its trunk and the wards that it projected now threatened to falter at the onslaught of the spirits that had long thrown themselves at the border. A single life, it seemed, could not keep evil at bay for all eternity. This fact was known to the council of the village below, and as the great tree began to slip from the world, they set in motion a further plan.

In the depths of one of the great mountains that surrounded the village, its every inhabitant worked tirelessly, hewing and hauling the stone bones of the earth out from the grand chamber they were constructing. At its center, the village’s most skilled artisans worked diligently, inscribing the face of a great obelisk with runes and symbols in a language known to none of them. Night and day the village toiled, until at the final strike of a pickaxe they heard a most ominous sound. A pained groan uttered its way through the valley, followed by the thunderous impact of what could only be the felling of the great tree. The villagers cowered within the cavern, watching in horror as the spirits of evil began to flit about the ceiling above them. Yet as all seemed lost each spirit that had entered the chamber was wrenched downwards, its essence bound to the great obelisk, which trapped their visages in caricatures of agony upon its surface. Though the flood of spirits seemed unending, each and every one soon found itself within a similar stone prison as the dissonant howls of these creatures of evil faded into nothingness within its earthly being. At this sight, the village rejoiced whilst remembering the one who had sacrificed much for them. Though life could not hold back the flood of DIVERGENCE, stone would bind it to its inescapable form.

Within is presented EATBRAIN’s full sonic scope, which spans the breadth of the neurofunk spectrum with tracks from JOE FORD, AGRESSOR BUNX, MIZO, FOURWARD & more - as well as sonic sequences from a variety of rising artists within the genre. Summing the EATBRAIN philosophy in a single sixteen track release, DIVERGENCE II presents a diverse yet unified front as the EATBRAIN horde continues its ravenous audio onslaught.
