Blackperl is a seven-member rock soul group with one thing in mind: Good music! Atlanta-based, the current configuration underscores a tale of fortuitousness and perseverance. Leader, BC Bryant, scoured Atlanta hangouts for the band's membership. J. Nicholas Williams, Sr., came to the group back in 1999 as it's new drummer for a last minute date at Atlanta's The Point. From that night on it was clear that Nick's superb talent and passion for rock was just what the band needed. From Bryant's own past he discovered keyboard/pianist Arthur Turner. The two have been inseparable songwriters ever since. Arthur's presence amongst a band of rock guitars and his novel approach to song arrangement as a keyboard-based rock band makes this bevy quite unique. Jermaine Rand is simply a beast on guitar and a gifted songwriter in his own right. His rock tone and vision has identified the "Blackperl sound." Guitarist Billy Odum soon followed. Billy has been an intricate member of the band for nearly ten years. All of the band members are songwriters and arrangers with a gospel, jazz, blues, rock background. The music is well-crafted and anchored by the band's unshakable musicianship, profound appreciation for melody, and their live stage performance. Blackperl recorded its first album entitled Crave with its self-entitled lead off track called "Crave" which has brought the band critical acclaim. The band has had the opportunity to play some great stages and festivals in its tenure, from multiple dates at New York's famed The Bitter End to Atlanta's Earth Link Live, The Warped Tour (Best Buy Amphitheater), Atlanta's world-renowned Music Midtown Festival, The Cotton Club (multiple dates), Atlanta's The Tabernacle, Coca Cola's Roxy Theatre, The Montreux Atlanta Music Festival (multiple dates), and college venues to date."
