Seven Line Supplication

Buddhist melodies have been described as being strong, but not fierce; yielding, but not formless; pure, but not monotonous; soothing, but not spiritless, and hearing them can help to purify the hearts of listeners. The teachings or Dharma of the Buddha mention music on many occasions. It is written in Amitabha Sutra, that heavenly singing and chanting is heard all day and night in the world around us: as flowers softly rain down from the heavens; as birds produce beautiful and harmonious music; the blowing of a gentle breeze; "the rows of jeweled trees and jeweled nets give forth subtle and wonderful sounds, like one hundred thousand kinds of music played at the same time. All those who hear these sounds naturally bring forth in their hearts mindfulness of the Buddha, mindfulness of the Dharma…" all playing together in harmony, to guide sentient beings to enlightenment.

The music on this album invites you to think how beauty matters. Our artists, internationally recognized ambassador of Tibetan music and culture, Tsering Tan and China's rising star of the harp, Zhang Xiaoyin, together with producer 
Ye Yunchuan have shared a dream to open a new path into the heart of Tibet's ancient, spiritual music, a music
universally recognized for it's healing properties. Together, they agreed that the lifestyle common to most people today is too busy and stressful; every day, people run around lost in themselves and losing their peace. The music they have chosen comes directly from the hymns and sutras of Tibetan

Yangchen Lhamo - Tche Yong La (we will meet)

Yungchen Lhamo's name means "Goddess of Song," a name given her by a holy man soon after she was born near Lhasa. She left Tibet in 1989 at age 25, via the perilous navigation of the Himalayas in order to escape the oppressive Chinese regime governing Tibet. She made a pilgrimage to Dharamsala, to receive the blessings of the Dalai Lama, where he lives in exile. She was inspired to reach out to the world through her music, to share her culture and educate people about Tibet. She moved to Australia in 1993.

Since fleeing Tibet on foot in 1989, Yungchen Lhamo has emerged as the leading Tibetan vocalist on the world stage.

The Dedication “Fulfilling All Aspirations” (Toh 285) is a prayer of dedication, and is meant to be recited. Its structure partly reflects the liturgy of “seven branches” or “seven limbs,” a set of practices that serves as the basic structure of many Mahāyāna Buddhist prayers and rituals. In this instance, however, the text consists of two sections: the first is a detailed prayer of confession, and the second a prayer of rejoicing, requesting that the wheel of the Dharma be turned, beseeching the buddhas not to pass into nirvāṇa, and extensively dedicating the merit.
