Fluctuation in the external world - a ripple across the fabric of space and time - disruption at a granular level of reality that spreads deep through the senses. Internal connections pulse with electrical activity, opening new pathways and unfurling their tendril-thread map of the universe reflected within. Awareness glides like heavy silk across the mind's deep furrows, the conscious eye compiling fresh sonic prophecies pulled from the farthest reaches of the realms of altered perception. Past melts into the present, erupting into the fragile flame of consciousness, cognition reaching with darkly glimmering arms into the tidal seas of a future wrapped in the deepest of bass frequencies.

HYPOXIA once again emerge from the twisted depths of the EATBRAIN fold to deliver the COGNITION EP. Following up their much-revered ANOVA EP, released on the label in 2015 and garnering widespread praise for their intensely engineered and heavy production aesthetic; the Belgian duo hit hard and true - cementing themselves as part of the Eatbrain family. Night has fallen, the threat of extinction riding on the edge of its transition. Decaying and contorted faces of the undead leer from the shadows, twisted limbs reaching from the darkness towards the eternal signal - driven to crush its subversive broadcast and extinguish the final beacon. A single being stands in their way - the strongest of his kind, the last of a genetic line extending into a derelict past with an imperative to preserve the future. An arsenal of sonic weaponry residing within the lines of his palms, drawn forth through the ancient forms manifested by long-dead masters. His swift movement amongst the shuffling army is efficient - acute strikes snap limbs, raw concentrated power crushes bone, low-frequency techniques leaving little behind from the weight of brutal molecular disruption. With the rising of the sun, only he remains – the broken dead lying scattered and without motion – the focused power of his fighting form has prevailed… the signal is preserved.
 
Following up on the impact of the sampler EP, L 33 unleashes his most devastating technique upon the EATBRAIN label with his KARATE LP. An artist residing at the heart of the Eatbrain collective with an entirely unique and recognizable sound – his album delivers a polished and hard-hitting array of tracks designed with pure dancefloor palpitation in mind. The Blackout train has well and truly left the station already in 2017, and with the year’s debut single from Black Sun Empire featuring collaborations with Noisia and Pythius the momentum that is being gathered so early is bordering on frightening.

BSE have delivered another beautifully constructed single that blends the tough sound fans are used to with Noisia’s brains and Pythius’ brawn. The depth of knowledge and talent in tandem with BSE’s creative capacity makes the single just the adrenaline shot the scene needed to jump start the year. “The Veil” takes a more scaled back approach by pushing its energy through a souled out bassline, whilst Pythius’ influence can be heard in “Catalyst” as it swings violently, yet gracefully, through a string of hot tempered breaks.

The great news is that this is not just a single release, but the prologue to an epic journey that Black Sun Empire are to embark upon in 2017, with the group stating recently:
“we’re excited to announce we’ve been working on our next album and we’re almost finished, can’t wait to tell everyone more about it soon”
As a statement this is incredible news, as many fans and peers have been waiting for a BSE longplayer for a while. However, when you look at “The Veil”/”Catalyst” as the hors d’oeuvre and appetiser, the main course is guaranteed to attain Michelin star status.

''After attending this years Boomtown, and meeting up with Volatile Cycle and Barbarix backstage at the Scrap Yard, we got chatting about drum and bass and life and then put in place plans for these lads to get involved with the label. To kick their tenture off, we received an absolute belter from the production quartet that is Volatile Cycle, Barbarix and Blockdodger. It's safe to say 'Manifest' kills it from the outfit that put together the official Boomtown anthem. We're incredibly stoked to have this lot on-board, watch out for more from them soon. 

Next up our German mates Instinkt are back for more on Lifestyle, with a track you'd expect only of this powerhouse duo. 'Conan' is big, bad and schmutzig. Following on and keeping it international, from New Zealand we have the Kiwi's Obeisant and Victim with their first release on the label, providing us with the dangerously large ‘6 Months’. Then to wrap up this sampler, there’s the slick liquid roller 'Born In November' from Slovak and German production trio Humanon, another debut on Lifestyle!

Snow crunched lightly under his paws as he made his way across the forest floor in the still darkness. Faint light from the pale moon penetrating the depths of the woods occasionally rippled across his fur as he moved stealthily towards the perimeter. The fur around his mouth carried the stains of the many carcasses those pointed teeth had torn into as their dark-tinted red warmth slipped away beneath his fearsome frame. His blood appetite freshly sated, it was time to return to his brothers. The torn and broken light of the forest’s horizon spread across his good eye, that portal to the open plains and the mountains beyond. Smells of the forest’s life and the subtle sounds of the slowly beating hearts of its hibernating inhabitants surrounded him, each distinctly offering the promise and debt of the food they would become with the cyclic melt. His iris shrunk as he padded out into the pure white snow plain, their god, the mountain, towering above in all of its bleak awe. A frozen gust blew across his fur, carrying with it the sound of the distant bloodhowl of his kind, a twisted mournful note full of rage that resonated with his instinct, triggering adrenaline and flooding his form with anger. Quickening his pace, he darted for the pack, lips curled back against fangs that would soon let another pathetic usurper’s lifeforce spill onto nature’s coldest of blankets. The lair of the Wölfe lay ahead, his kind... connected in cruel mortality.

EATBRAIN welcome FOURWARD and his brothers to the fold, bringing a wealth of deadly talent to the label in the forms of SIGNAL and PHENTIX on production and the sharply delivered vocals of the legendary VIRUS SYNDICATE.
