*Attention, boys* V Kim returns with his first original release since Kiko Kicks and drops Gold Chainz, a ballroom and K-pop joint club throw-down, the product of his last studio session with Qween Beat affiliate Divoli S’vere, topped with fierce and sweat laden verses by the latter. V Kim, a charter member of the pan-Asian Eternal Dragonz collective, intended the single as the peak of Jade High: his fever dream soundtrack to a neon dragon statues and ice-cold jade roulette tables clad fictional mega-casino in Macau. Fade to Mind bossman Kingdom joins the mahjong table on this one and brings his A-game remix savvy, polishing the original’s edges without losing momentum or vigor.

With their first work Dragon’s Den(2016), When We Never created a photo-musical study in contemporary Australian masculinity utilising sound design, documentary photography, emerging web formats and subversive linked rich media. Combining Cooper’s work in art direction, design, illustration and photography with Hill’s background as an experimental musician, When We Never was founded as a means to explore a conceptual creative process that is inherently experimental and dogged in its rejection of perfectionism.

Your Soul Lives on in the Deep Web is the first in When We Never's series reinterpreting songs featuring dogs as symbols. Utilising Cooper's a cappella rendition of the '56 Elvis Presley hit Hound Dog as a basis, When We Never dive deeper into the hazy sonics of their first project Dragon's Den (2016), while bringing a stronger focus to Cooper's natural croon and vocal manipulations. Turning a seemingly simple song into an uncomfortable – and at times violent – meditation on class, race, masculinity and fear, Your Soul... is built upon a Roland SH-101 improvisation and Hill's explorations and audio-based findings in the deep web.
