Having been steadily absorbing the flowery humidity in steamy spa towns of central Florida since his debut outing Chillax, Floridian $1 house music purveyor Blair Sound Design aka Kyle Lyon emerges into the Lobster forest with all 16-bit brass and duvet filters blazing.

Taking inspiration from late 80's and early 90's bargain bin finds, as well as a lifetime spent strapped to Game Boy classic Kirby's Dream Land, Console Humidity finds Lyon on classically chipper yet introspective form, carving a path well trodden but that is unmistakeable his own. 

In his own words, the EP follows a loose narrative reflecting on the ebb and flow of ones mental state throughout any given day: where it lies as you wake, go about your day, meditate, stress, and rush about a busy unrecognisable city. Every console has its processing limits, and people are very much the same. Hopefully this collection strikes a balance between introspection and peace as it does rhythmic propulsion and face-screwing mirth. 

From the digital emotive-ambient transients of RNG Therapy, to the deep brooding house grumble of Silph Scope, the happy-go-lucky swagger and jazzy keys of Startup Tool, and the bizarre & comedic pandemonium of Overheated - Console Humidity is a lesson in life, a jump onto a surface of unknown dimensions, a conversation in practice and a method of practicing conversation. It is singular journey with real warmth and rough edges and an extra shot to give your day that little kick to get you going.

Here at Allergy Season we like to think our fates are tied to the forces of nature, whether the rain will wash away the pollen or feed a new bloom that causes us to double up on our eye drops for the day. Lady Blacktronika is nothing if not a force of nature. On countless releases over the last decade she has continually broken and rebuilt the house music wheel, crafting tracks with a completely unique perspective, and a devastating effect on the dance floor. There is a difference between reference and reverence-- Lady Blacktronika always goes heavy on the former, and never bows to the latter. 

Across "Rave Rinse Repeat" Lady Blacktronika dissects classic samples and stitches together 4 essential tools. In "Feel So Good" the cavernous sounds of rave are whittled down to just their organic elements and paired with a stomping house beat. In "Je Te Adore (Shut That Door)" a funk bass line climbs and descends the stairs endlessly, while a whispered voice coo's in our ear. Through out the EP breakbeats, tambourines, hand drums and vocals echo and filter in a psychedelic swirl.

We are happy to say that French Press Lounge is back in action with the latest from Orlando's own Blair Sound Design, a four tracker aptly titled "4-In-1."

Kyle Lyon has had a wee obsession with the history and spoils of bootleg ephemera within and surrounding underground dance culture, video games, and consumerist visual culture at large. Whether it be an absurdly good unlicensed remix on a mysterious white label, an old RPG soundtrack from a long-defunct NES game developer or a remarkably "bad" utilization of classic house tropes, there lies a beguiling sense of charm and humanness in such things appropriated with creativity and love for the medium.

Returning under the Blair Sound Design name after releasing "Console Humidity" in 2018 with Lobster Theremin, Lyon begins to unload the multitude of sketches and tracks from the last 4 years that aim to explore and marry the crossover point of classic house stylings and illegal instances of entertainment technology. "4-In-1" is perhaps the most tool oriented selection in this coming wave, with a focus on wildly, loosely swung percussive maneuvers, scant use of melody, a drop of piano chords, decidedly busted sampling mechanics and big emphasis on his signature "8-Bit 808" sub-bass, culled from the Nanoloop Mono synthesizer cartridge using his own DMG-01 Gameboy handheld game system.

Rough, ready, and kind of annoying: "4-In-1" feels like an honest attempt to celebrate and crystallize the nascent thrill of electronic (re)production in an age of technological democratization and a culture obsessed with the notion of authenticity and the self, inherent or fabricated. As was once said,

"You see, HOUSE is a FEELING...."
"House Music ALL Night Long!!!"
"Ooo, baby!"

The track "Finally Realized" is an emotional house thumper with warped electric piano chords, lofty pads, and an introspective vocal sample that burrows deep. A steady foundation of dented and syncopated drums keeps the whole thing glued together while blissful arpeggios soar overhead. For Back Door Records latest compilation "Northern Shelter", we see the label bring back a series of old friends from previous records alongside a bevy of new collaborators they wish to shine a light on. This record has a variety of sound that walks the lines between the more funky cuts of Deep House and a more raw classic House sound.

This record progresses from Atomyards unique, deep, lush and synthy beat "Coming Back From Jungle 51" through the soulful dystopian "Sunday stroll" by Mon all the way thru to the classic banger Yuh (Yeah Remix), a chicago style rip up from Blair Sound Design.  This record feels like a set from a DJ at their peak, varied and united in equal measure.

This compilation was put together in support of children's communities on the US border, with 50% of all profits going to Save The Children at a time when it is much needed.  Alongside the digital release this record will be offering a limited tape cassette edition, strictly limited in numbers but something different for the collectors to pick up and enjoy.
