Born and raised in Geneva, Switzerland, Blaise Deville first started manipulating two turntables to the sound of Hip Hop, Funk and Reggae in 1997. Two years later, he created the Funk and Hip Hop collective "Zebra 3 Connection". Between 2003 and 2005, he took part in the experimental show "Bug Talk Zoo" on the Internet radio "Basic". The show broadcasted a combination of quirky beats, spoken words and musique concrete.

In early 2006, Blaise Deville moved to Shanghai and joined "Uprooted Sunshine", one of the few Dub, Reggae & Dancehall crews in China. In early 2011, he produced "Level Up!" a collaborative mixtape between the German record label "Jahtari" and "Uprooted Sunshine". As a resident DJ till 2012 at Shanghai's "The Shelter", one of the most revered clubs in Asia, and the co-founder of the Sub-Culture events, he helped bringing groundbreaking electronic music to local audiences.

From Hip Hop to Dancehall, from Miami Bass to Jersey Club, from Juke to Ghettotech, from Baile Funk to Kuduro, Blaise Deville is known for his skills and versatile mixes. He has acquired the reputation of blending different musical genres without making any compromise about his musical tastes and always staying relevant through his selections. Nowadays, his unique take on Grime, Footwork, Gqom and a host of other music styles can be heard through his monthly radio show "Construct".

Our first release for 2025 is ‘Tokyo Ice Age’, a new EP from Prettybwoy. 5 warped club tracks, packaged with remixes from aya and Proc Fiskal, artwork by Downstate and mastered by Raphael Valensi.

‘An ice age is a cycle of roughly 100,000 years that Earth has been undergoing for at least the past million years. I’ve been reflecting on these cycles and the way life resets or disappears over time. When my grandmother passed away, I found old photographs and handwritten documents—faded pieces of history that offered me a brief glimpse into my family’s past. Ways of living, even since my own birth, are changing rapidly, and many things are being lost or disappearing forever.

The term "Ice Age" also refers to Japan’s Employment Ice Age, a period between the mid-90s and early 2000s, following the collapse of the country's 'Bubble Economy.' During this time, many young graduates and displaced workers struggled to find stable employment. The generation impacted by this era, known as the "Lost Decades," is often referred to as the ‘Lost Generation’ or ‘Ice Age Generation.’ I belong to this generation.’

Bristol-based @k_means operates at the fringes of electronic music. It's not tempo and genre that unites their sound, but more an exploration of mood and texture underpinned by bass-heavy low ends and hypnotic rhythms. The Noods, Rinse FM and Kiosk Radio regular is also resident at Bristol's Psychotherapy Sessions and will debut at Dekmantel Festival where you should fully expect to be taken into plenty of unknown musical territory.

It is the same with their mix for us this week - a wild trip into futuristic drum patterns and interplanetary sounds that melt the mind and contort the body. There is a constant push and pull between the organic and the synthetic with tribal percussion and warped vocals brushing up with bleeping synth modulations and experimental minimalism. It's a magnetic selection that's as much an imaginary movie soundtrack as it is a dance floor escape.

This was the very last gig of the 2017 Construct China touring package. The tension in the original, now defunct, Time Tarracho lineup was boiling over. The long time toxic relationship hit rock bottom right there in the biggest city of the world. 

There was one more gig in homeland Zurich to follow soon after, and the original lineup never ever performed together again. There was a final showdown, again in Chongqing in 2023, but this is of no further concern here, except that, again Chongqing. 

What is, however, you can feel the war going on in this performance. It has many flaws, this performance, but the fight, the binary against the nonbinary, light vs. shadow, etc, whatever you might fancy atm, it is very palpable. An original memory.  Club All in Shanghai, Loopy in Hangzhou, Dada Beijing, Chengdu, Kunming, Dali, all the other gigs probably were better. Take it for what it is.

7im3 74rr4x0 is back at full speed. The original portuguese meaning of "Time" as "Team" is gone, time is what remains, tribute to the greatest illusions of all.
