Kotahitanga is a Māori word meaning unity, togetherness, and solidarity. It celebrates diversity, collective action, and the beauty of coming together as one. For us, this concept resonates deeply with the creative spirit of Aotearoa, especially within the underground scene.

The title track is an ode to Twisted Frequency Festival, which we feel embodies the essence of Kotahitanga through its vibrant, inclusive, and creative community. This project is also a love letter to where we grew up—Motueka and the Tasman region. These songs carry the feeling of summers there: sun-soaked, carefree, and alive with the energy of raves that shaped our youth.

We’re also honoured to feature two incredibly talented wahine who are dear friends of ours, as well as our friend Lotu, who features on “Better Things,” the second track. Their voices and artistry add a layer of connection and celebration to this release, making it all the more meaningful.

Kotahitanga is a reflection of our roots, our community, and the timeless magic of music bringing people together. Thank you for being part of this journey with us.

Chunga feat. Lotu & Tamar - Better Things

This mix series is all about the afters. At a time when venues & governments fall short of pushing forward our scene & fostering culture, the after party is where culture building truly happens. And we’re not complaining.

We’re asking 8 of our friends, producers and DJs to help us with their versions of the “real” party after the “meh” party. And we’re calling it The After-After-Party Mixtapes. Totally subjective, totally in their control.

Q&A:

Q: What’s your go-to late night sound? What defines your choices?
A: I like to either go for chill groovy house type music or play something that is rhythmic and focuses on percussion. I think both of these options give people the choice to either move and dance with the music or have interesting conversations with the people at the afters. That way, the folks who are still raging away have something the hook on to and the ones who want to take it easy have a nice background of rhythm and melodies to rest upon.

Q: What is, in your opinion, the ideal afters? No wrong answers here, and definitely no judgment.
A: An ideal after for me would have some key elements. Interesting conversations that center around intellect, philosophy and culture. A right mix of people who I am very comfortable with and people that I don't know who are interesting to connect with. A healthy respect for the music that is being played. Even if you are not dancing or paying much attention to it.

Q: Walk us through some of your selections. What are some of your favorite picks in this mix and why?
A: I really wanted to showcase the fact that an afters can be a place where you can experiment a lot more and have the comfort to try out things that are wacky, experimental and sometimes even messy and not clean. The mix features a couple of live mashups / layering that I am stoked about. Getting a chance to play a mix that features track from the following artists is always special and something I feel grateful for: Nuphlo, Kohra, Baalti, Midival Punditz, Gaudi, Vinayak^a. I'm also proud that it contains tracks that had a wide range of released years. From 1997 to current day releases.

After-After-Party Mixtapes 06 ft. Shivhari

Georgia, aka Freq, has been tearing up dancefloors around Naarm (Melbourne AU) and beyond with her high-energy sets and a knack for delivering dark, dirty broken beats. Her unique style has landed her alongside drum and bass legends like Dillinja, Bou, Basstripper, The Upbeats, Benny Page, Benny L, Anton, and T-Lex.

Freq’s been on the lineup for some of the scenes most hyped crews including Twisted Audio, wavecult, Run ‘n Chase, SUB:SOLAR, Ethos Collective, Sub Club, Sub Yard Sound, and My Aeon. When it comes to festivals, she’s brought her signature energy to Tanglewood, Esoteric, and SubTerra.

She’s also dropped guest mixes for homegrown legends like 8Ball Audio and had her sounds broadcast on KISS FM and Exit Speed Radio. Expect gritty basslines, face-scrunching drops, and pure, unfiltered vibes.
