A little vocal demo reel I've compiled.

A lot of different styles and sounds there, some of my former band 'Zero Division', some session work I did in the studio and some stuff I did for 'Blake Inc.'.

Totenlied (German for elegy or dirge) is the Game Over song of Aphelion. When you fail, a bit of mellow and melancholic piano music is guaranteed to rub it in!

The main protagonist's theme. Savion's a conflicted fellow and his music is supposed to show that. So we get trumpets, electric guitars, 80's style solos and delicate piano melodies. The more, the merrier I guess.

A tune for a very mysterious, dark and brooding forest. Our heroes struggle for survival – and yadda, yadda.

Ashley is – you guessed it – the high-spirited cheerful sidekick. I always thought the song felt like an anime opening of sorts. It's also the first song I ever played the recorder on – and probably the last.

This is probably my favourite song on the whole soundtrack. I was trying to give it a mixed Western-Asian feel, hence the erhu and koto.

It feels very anime-y and soundtrack-y, but that was what I was going for, I guess. :)

I've previously dabbled in video game vocal covers before and this time it's no different: A game music tune (two actually!), loud guitars and – you guessed it – vocals. This time, we did a three-minute progressive rock opera heavy symphonic metal kind-of-thing. I hope it sounds better than it reads! We also submitted this to OCRemix and since they only accept original song titles we came up with the name 'Our Darkest Dreams'.

My good friend Matti has been handling bass (and backing vocal) duties on some of my previous songs. And here he is, back in action. This time, he also contributed the lyrics, which I've listed further below.

"Supersonic Proving Grounds" is an original chiptune written in FamiTracker and composed entirely within NES (or Famicom) limits. It's my second publicly released original chiptune, but it's got a bit of history to it. It started out as the soundtrack for a retro-themed space shmup game, then transformed into a heavy metal song for my band Zero Division and eventually went back to the roots with a heavily edited chiptune version. Much like my previous year's song, "Tides", it made it onto the prestigious "Chiptunes = WIN" sampler, was composed using the 2A03 sound chip and written on my guitar. And, as always, I hope you guys like it! ฅ(^ω^ฅ)

Hello! My name is Mario and I make music.
