Grace wrote this piece while her father was deployed as a Chaplain during the first Gulf War, under President George H. W. Bush.  Since he was deployed to Babylon, modern day Iraq, Psalm 137 really spoke to her.  Although this is the piano version, the original version she wrote for Baritone and Piano, was performed by Grace and her husband at the Woodbridge Music Club's Composer's Concert in November of 2012.

We’re conditioned to act not think

Education is too expensive for the rulers
the Earth pays the price for ignorant abusers
the streets awaken with demands for change
send the enforcers, nothing can contain our rage
strategy choice: insult, brutality or intimidation
marketeers about to make money from appropriation
The story is old as time, they conquer through fear
Though its soldiers die, the defiance is always here

Our Mother's death, they say, will be the fault of our choices
Enough of products with built-in obsolescence, listen to our voices
The blood of past movements stain future law documents
Politicians pose for pictures facing past-honouring monuments

Water invades lungs that have just learned to breathe
In the dessert, bodies of freedom seekers seethe
Drop the racists insults until people move on
Dehumanised, daemonised, dreams now far gone
Babies ripped away from those known as safe faces
Propaganda-fed cry “they belong to different races”
Those offering meals seen as enemies of the regime
Strong enough to say fuck you to the winning team

Governments lethal to those with morality
Open discrimination no longer an abnormality
Parents hold back tears, hope their children will survive
Nationalism send us first class to our own demise
Attempts to escape the bloodshed drowned in bureaucracy
Claims of helping refugees to hide their hypocrisy
Vain hopes that they’ll be welcomed in a foreign land
Send them back to die, no one willing to offer a hand

September 2020 "the organismic synthesizer" Soma Lyra 8 landed a month ago at the SONICriderSTUDIO.

Since the prior video "Soma Lyra 8 Discovery" the Lyra 8 was around all the time, learning, searching & enjoying this fine synth... Recorded this piece as a feedback of the journey till now using a lot of feedback "like" noises :-)

Playing the Lyra 8 feels like having a real connection as with a conventional instrument "each movement of the fingers gives an immediately feedback". 

As said before:
Although this report doesn't show expert skills it was fun to make it & show some of the Lyra 8 capabilities. This synthesizer will become a welcome travel mate - not only on musical journeys -  due to his stand alone possibility.
