Yetsuby lands on London label Third Place with her 'Water Flash' EP this July. 

Seoul-based artist Yetsuby is best known as one half of electronic super-duo Salamanda, who have won hearts and minds with their light and floaty new-age electronica via releases on Good Morning Tapes, Human Pitch, and Métron Records. As a solo act, she has released her own music on the Taipei-based 禁 JIN as well as through the Seoul store The Internatiiional amongst self-released delights on her Bandcamp. 

Turning to Will Hofbauer's playful Third Place imprint for her latest 12', Yetsuby delivers four bubbly tracks. On the A-side, the title cut 'Water Flash' leads with airy synths and textured percussion, while 'Electro Union' ups the energy with choppy vocal samples, punchy drums, and twinkling arps. On the flip, subtle synths wriggle alongside low-key percussion on 'Commercial Noisy Day', making for a heads-down affair, before the gorgeous finalé '물먹는하마' rounds out the B-side with delicate keys and detailed yet muted drums.

In March 2023, Ugandan MP's passed a bill imposing the death penalty for homosexuality. In the run up to the bill's passing, a new wave of anti-gay animus had taken hold. In February, alone more than 110 LGBTQ Ugandans reported incidents including arrests, sexual violence, evictions and public undressing to advocacy group SMUG. The bill further puts LGBTQ people at risk by threatening landlords with imprisonment. 

This fundraiser is run by a group of LGBTQ Ugandans and UK allies from the arts, electronic music and activist community who are rallying to directly support at-risk individuals.  The fund acquired will go directly to those affected, paying for costs such as
- Bail for LGBTQ people inprisoned 
- Relocating to a safer area
- Emergency accommodation costs
- Legal and medical fees 
- Visa and transportation costs for those leaving the country 

❁ Kílala Lelum (Urban Indigenous Health and Healing Cooperative) is a health center borne out a desire to partner Indigenous Elders with group an experience group of inner-city physicians, nurses and allied health professionals to go beyond the traditional clinical care by providing physical, mental, emotional and spiritual care to Indigenous  communities within Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. Kílala Lelum is based on a holistic and culturally-based health center which provides dignified care which is Indigenous-focused and Elder-led and trauma-informed. Eastern Distributor, also known as Jörmungandr, is a true all-rounder. He is first and foremost a producer, he DJ´s, he co-heads a record label (Eko-System) and runs events. His sound is quite unique as it ranges from ambient to percussive-centric techno, with everything in between. But most importantly - it sounds ALIEN!

After a quick meet on the d-floor at Inner Varnika, we had the pleasure of getting to know him a little better during this interview. He knows his shit when it comes to production. We discussed music production, awkward fan encounters, the origin of his aliases and much more. The mix includes a bunch of his own unreleased originals - enjoy!

Closing the release, ‘Comatose’ lives up to its name with a heavy, relentless groove. Its broken-beat character and somatic low-end make it a formidable tool for the deepest hours of the night.
