‘Jungle Terror represents an overview of my club sound at any given time. I like to incorporate sounds that I don’t hear anywhere else and instead of searching for them elsewhere, I usually end up creating them myself.’ – Wiwek
Jungle Terror Vol. 1 was the first ever EP on Barong Family, back in 2014. Vol. 2 came out in the spring of 2016. And now, after more than two-and-a-half years of roaming the earth and releasing smash hits like ‘Killa’, Barong Family’s prodigal son Wiwek is back with the latest instalment of his Jungle Terror EP series.
The four tracks on Jungle Terror EP Vol. 3 are the first to come out of Wiwek’s new studio, which he had custom built after years of toiling away in his bedroom. Finally able to get as deep into crafting these thunderous beats as he likes, the Dutch DJ and producer is taking a new leap. Strange rituals unfold in
‘Coco Nutz’ when a marimba-like melody starts leading the dance. ‘LMLOYF’ (work it out for yourself!) could be the secret ingredient that breathes new life into the rave. The percussive ‘Lost City’ has a previously undiscovered species chanting Wiwek’s name, while ‘Ni de Coña’, a collaboration with Mike Cervello, breaks on a wave of oceanic strings before crashing on the shore and continuing the party.
Is this the end of a trilogy? Will the saga continue? Stay tuned.
