Looking back to loadsa years of selecting heavy Drum'n'Bass styles in the 2000s already, Æon is usually facing dj gigs with darker 160 stuff nowadays. Exclusively for Alphacut, the upper tempi laces are tied once again for a both overview and review selection across the whole label backstock and beyond, featuring killers as well as fillers, dirty as well as tidy bits, old white hats as well as forthcoming dark shock-o-lateys - altogether celebrating a headsuppy cheers to the phuture!

Lilak Mind - Subardo Festival 2025

Liam O'Donovan, known as Dono, started playing shows around Naarm (Melbourne, AU) in 2019, not long after turning 20. Growing up in the city's inner west, he spent his late teens at warehouse parties, drawn to the bass-heavy pull of UK garage, grime, and dubstep. Those early nights shaped his ear and his pace - steady, detailed, and always chasing new sounds.

Before the pandemic, Dono closed a set for UK funky producer Murder He Wrote at Sub Club and started finding his footing in the local scene, playing with crews like Vapor Noir and Bubble. His first sets leaned toward bass music, but over time, his sound grew more fluid - pulling from deep house, techno, and leftfield spaces that blur the lines between genres rather than sit in one.

During the lockdowns of 2021, he began a monthly residency on London's Voices Radio, a slot he's kept ever since. It became a place to dig into the intersections of UK and global club sounds, exploring the shifting balance between rhythm, mood, and weight. Around that same time, he co-ran the Broken Codes parties at venues like Kindred Studios and the Gaso, throwing intimate, high-energy nights focused on local artists and raw dancefloor pressure.

Lately, Dono's been holding down late sets at Revolver, constantly reworking his sound and presence - bringing upfront club energy while keeping a sense of depth and movement underneath. This guest mix reflects that same mindset: fluid and cross-genre, connecting threads across the bass and hardcore continuum - from leftfield bass and dubstep to drum and bass, garage, and beyond.
