Arcadia brings together zakè, Joachim Spieth, and Markus Guentner in a collaborative work that thoughtfully expands the possibilities of ambient and drone music. Released via Affin, the album merges the trio’s distinct artistic voices into a coherent whole, resulting in a body of work that is both contemplative and richly textured.

Each artist contributes a defining element to the album’s sonic architecture: zakè’s emotive soundscapes, Spieth’s meticulous minimalism, and Guentner’s vast, atmospheric layers. Their approaches converge seamlessly, crafting an immersive experience that moves fluidly between structure and abstraction, serenity and quiet intensity.

Rather than adhering to ambient music conventions, Arcadia subtly reconfigures them, offering a profound exploration of mood, space, and stillness. Intricate layers unfold with restraint and clarity, inviting the listener into a world where time seems to dissolve.

As their first joint endeavor as a trio, Arcadia stands as a testament to their shared sensitivity and craftsmanship. Available on CD, the album is a nuanced and deeply resonant addition to the ambient canon, rewarding attentive listening with its quiet depth and elegant design.

After a short break we are back with NFR043 and a great discovery all the way from Cuba. Album length electronic music expedition that will take from glorious ambient atmospheres to darker, groove based pieces. Release contains 8 original tracks and ambient rework by Motion Symmetry. We welcome a promising new name to our label - datasæt.

Bio:

datasæt is the musical project of Guillermo Ismael García Borges, a Cuban sound artist. His approach to music is guided by curiosity more than convention. Rather than relying on rhythm to drive movement, he's drawn to how sound interacts with thought, memory, and silence. His tracks often explore irregular patterns and textures, creating space for deep listening and sensory exploration—an invitation to wander through shifting sonic landscapes.

Guillermo has released music in Argentina, Chile, Cuba, and Spain. He is a resident at Quantum, a series of events based in Havana, Cuba, where he regularly plays extended, introspective sets that lean toward the experimental. His performances are less about control and more about surrender—offering a slow unfolding of emotion, tone, and presence.

Outside of music, he is a medical doctor with a strong interest in neuroscience, architecture, and computer programming—fields that subtly shape his creative process. These disciplines, each rooted in systems and structures, find resonance in his music, which often feels like a dialogue between precision and intuition, calculation and chance.

For their inaugural release, London-based Vysyon presents Mercuri: an enchanting EP of enigmatic techno featuring work by Swiss artists @varuna4053 & @mateohurtadomusic.

Having developed their brand of abyssal club music through releases on Amenthia Recordings & their own imprint A Walking Contradiction, Varuna dive into the void on ‘Remote Pulsar’. Driven by a disorientating polyrhythm cloaked in opaque atmospherics, the trio’s otherworldly approach to sound design is on full display. By contrast, the pounding 4/4 kick & propulsive acid bass of ‘Uvez Echos’ entrance the listener into a state of dancefloor reverie.

Mateo Hurtado casts his own unique magic over the flip, showcasing his archetypal mystic sound established via an album on Annulled music & remixes for Space Drum Meditation. The mesmerising flute melody of ‘An Invisible Fire, Working In Secret’ casts a spell of hypnosis, while the flowing, amorphous pads & twisted bass of ‘The Eternal Mirror’ conjure visions of worlds unknown.

Mercuri is now available to purchase & download via bandcamp. Vinyl pre-orders are available via Juno & other good online record stores.
