Listening to MADMADMAD can be delightfully disorienting, and that quality extends to the
band’s collagist and homemade visual art that accompanies their music. “History goes in cycles,
and we feel there’s a correlation with what happened a century ago, when everything was so
chaotic and people had a hard time making sense of what was going on in the world,” Benji
explains while describing how the band take cues from the 20th century’s Dadaist movement. “It feels like we’re at that moment again—where it’s quite hard to make sense of everything with so much information every day. There was quite a lot of confusion back then after the first world
war and a global pandemic, and the response of the arts was to reflect the nonsensical place
the world was at. We feel heavily influenced by that, so that’s what we put in our music and
visuals.”

Family Matter 03

The Black Light Disco Show which aired on www.myhouseradio.fm on Monday 6th April 2020 was a very special one indeed. Why was it so special, you may ask? Well, first up is an hour of smooth grooves, strings, synths and bumping' disco beats from BLD resident,  presenter of Spin City (also on MyHouse Radio.fm) - and one of the best doctors of the mix - Goz. And for the second hour? We've got a very, very special guest mix from two lads from Newcastle in the UK who have been on our collective radars here at BLD for quite some time - the peerless RJ. 

RJ are Richard Harle & Chris Bremner who share a very similar passion to BLD for House Music with a Funky, Soulful/Disco edge. 

DJing together for over 10 years, RJ has  rocked dance floors around  the UK, Europe and the US. Playing various clubs/venues in & around their home town of Newcastle, they've played along side likes of Natasha Kitty Katt, Lenny Fontana, Joey Negro & John Morales to name a few. 

This is in addition to running their own even,  'Strut2Disco' which aims to bring up and coming and influential DJ’s in the Nu-Disco & Re-edits scene to their events.

We were absolutely thrilled that they came on the show and our plan for teaming RJ up with Goz turned out rather well! This is hours of absolutely sublime music which will wash over you like a big, funky disco loofa.

Black Light Disco Show 20th April 2020 -  Nick Gartland

For the Black Light Show which aired on New York's www.myhouseradio.fm we had a residents special with another exceptional team up between Dirty Old Vinyl and Goz who, as always produce the goods (and then some). The first hour kicks off with Dirty Old Vinyl weaving a web of downtempo colours and displaying their trademark knack of finding the sweetest spot with their selections. For the second hour, Goz motors through the gears, building up those high mountain peaks caressing the disco stratosphere. it was, on all fronts a classic two hours of Black Light Disco!

The idea of Black Light Disco became a real thing when a few like-minded DJs and producers came together to put on a night showcasing the very best in disco, house and funk and everything in between. We announced ourselves on a gorgeous sunny Saturday in June 2019 with an all day and night party in Liverpool’s thriving Baltic Triangle area. It was the start of something very special. 

We have a solid core group of musical talent residing in BLD Towers hailing from England, Scotland, Wales, Northen Ireland and Italy -  providing perfectly cooked grooves and juicy basslines. 

The BLD team comprises of Esteban, Goz (Spin City), Pookie Knights, Cole Kutz (Opentempo.fm) De Gama and Fingerman (Hot Digits) – clocking up decades of DJ’ing and dancefloor experience between us. As individuals, the BLD team have been producing consistently high quality sets over the last few years. Now, as a collective, the aim is to make Black Light Disco THE place to promote new music and to bring you the very best in established/up-and-coming artists and producers in the sunlit uplands of sonic pleasure. 

In January 2020, we launched a weekly show on THE biggest house music FM radio station in New York, MyHouseRadio.fm (also available digitally at www.myhouseradio.fm).  The Black Light Disco Show airs every Monday exclusive to MyHouse Radio between 7pm – 9pm GMT (2pm -4pm EST), bringing you the finest in disco, funk and boogie; all delivered by our expert in-house Sonic Consultants (resident DJs) with guest mixes from the hottest producers, DJs and artists out there right now.
