BLD 6th November 2023 with Pookie Knights

This first hour of this episode was about two things - firstly the Discoholics Anonymous 4 compilation, that I’m featuring on alongside a load of amazing producers. I played my track and some of the other, much better tracks on there. 

The second focus was celebrating the music of the late, great Amp Fiddler, who we sadly lost recently. His tracks have been regulars in my shows and mixes, and I played three of his funkiest in this episode as a little tribute. RIP, you funky soul.

In hour 2 I handed over to Fray Bentos, a DJ and producer who I’ve been following for a while. He’s released on loads of labels that I’ve been on like Hot Gorilla, Discoholics Anonymous and Hot Digits, and always brings the funky vibes. He’s proved that in style here with an excellent mix - starting slow and moving through the gears very nicely. It’s mostly classic funk vibes, but with a bit of a disco-tastic finish. I bloody loved it!

Funkier Sounds Episode 123 - Fray Bentos Guest Mix

The Black Light Disco swizzled across the sweet candy canes that are the myhouseradio.fm airwaves on Monday 18th December with a pre-festivities amble into all things house, disco, funk, chonk and donk.

Cole Kutz is the man stepping into the BLD Towers ‘Sonic Experimentation Booth’ for this one to deliver a show that’s absolutely bursting at the seams with goodies and treats. Cole will be liberally splashing on the Old Spice, donning his best smoking jacket and cravat and getting right into the festive rump of it all with spicy musical vol-au-vents from the likes of Yuksek, Re-Tide, Miguel Migs, Angelo Ferreri, Igor Gonya plus many, many more. 

The schnitzengrübens are most definitely on us for this tantalising tip-toe through the winter solstice.

The idea of Black Light Disco became a real thing when a few like-minded DJs and producers came together to put on a night showcasing the very best in disco, house and funk and everything in between. Our ethos is based around a very simple concept: GOOD MUSIC, GOOD TIMES with GOOD PEOPLE. We announced ourselves on a gorgeous sunny Saturday in June 2019 with an all day and night party in Liverpool’s thriving Baltic Triangle area. It was the start of something very special. 

We have a solid core group of musical talent residing in BLD Towers hailing from England, Scotland, Wales, Northen Ireland and Italy -  providing perfectly cooked grooves and juicy basslines. 

The BLD team comprises of Esteban, Goz (Spin City), Pookie Knights, Cole Kutz (Opentempo.fm) De Gama and Fingerman (Hot Digits) – clocking up decades of DJ’ing and dancefloor experience between us. As individuals, the BLD team have been producing consistently high quality sets over the last few years. Now, as a collective, the aim is to make Black Light Disco THE place to promote new music and to bring you the very best in established/up-and-coming artists and producers in the sunlit uplands of sonic pleasure. 

In January 2020, we launched a weekly show on THE biggest house music FM radio station in New York, MyHouseRadio.fm (also available digitally at www.myhouseradio.fm).  The Black Light Disco Show airs every Monday exclusive to MyHouse Radio between 7pm – 9pm GMT (2pm -4pm EST), bringing you the finest in disco, funk and boogie; all delivered by our expert in-house Sonic Consultants (resident DJs) with guest mixes from the hottest producers, DJs and artists out there right now.
