I recorded this episode live at the end of one of the hottest days of all time here in London, so it only seemed right to start off with some sultry summer bubblers. Instead of the usual jumping around the BPMs i started very slowly and worked my way up steadily, so we went from a smooth and hazy chug to something a bit more lively by the end of the hour. Bit less heavy on the promos this time as I was focussing on summery tracks, plus some stuff I actually paid for recently. It was a really fun mix that ended up flowing pretty well, despite me almost melting whilst standing at the decks. Us Brits aren’t built for this heat! 

For the second hour I was very excited to hand over to one of my favourite DJs, Briak from France. Every mix I’ve heard from Briak has been a masterclass in track selection and mixing, and this one’s no different. There are no fewer than 24 brilliant tracks crammed into this hour long mix, with global and afro inspired rhythms, many shades of disco, some housier stuff, all blended together perfectly into one sublime journey. It’s such a good mix, honestly one of my favourites so far on the show.

Hot To The Touch 050822 with Discoholic Ken & Mauro Vecchi on Prime Radio

Co-host Greg Middleton was back at the FGFS controls this week, broadcasting from a scorching hot London, with yet more summer sizzlers for your ears - some new bits hot off the press, a couple of tracks from the vaults, and a nod to legendary Motown song-writer, Lamont Dozier, who sadly passed away this week.

We're also delighted to welcome Tony Perkins for this week's guest mix. Tony has been spinning tunes since 1987 and the very early days of house music. Over the years Tony has played for Babooshka at Air In Birmingham, Gatecrasher in Nottingham, to name but a few. 

In more recent times, he's been playing a lot of disco and nu-disco and this year has been no exception. Tony has been playing at events such The Gathering in Cleethorpes, Woodlands Disco Festival and Gloworm Festival both in Nottingham, with a gig in Ayia Napa coming up in September.

Episode 108: Feel Good Friday Radio Show (Greg Middleton and Tony Perkins)

Episode 89 saw me cram in a good variety of oldies alongside a load of new bits too. I took the route of starting slow and building up instead of jumping around the BPMs, kicking things off with my new one on the excellent Hot Gorilla compilation that’s storming the Junodownload charts right now. Building through a succession of new and old tunes covering funk, disco and a few flavours of house, I brought you promos from FF Edits, Le Croque, Sam Redmore, Reece Johnson, Chemars, Workerz and myself. 

In hour 2 I present to you a wonderfully funky guest mix from Madrid’s Da Groove Brothers. This one is right up my street - the sort of music I love but don’t know enough about… sleazy, fonky, lower tempo tunes full of vocoders, crisp beats and bendy synths. The idea of Black Light Disco became a real thing when a few like-minded DJs and producers came together to put on a night showcasing the very best in disco, house and funk and everything in between. Our ethos is based around a very simple concept: GOOD MUSIC, GOOD TIMES with GOOD PEOPLE. We announced ourselves on a gorgeous sunny Saturday in June 2019 with an all day and night party in Liverpool’s thriving Baltic Triangle area. It was the start of something very special. 

We have a solid core group of musical talent residing in BLD Towers hailing from England, Scotland, Wales, Northen Ireland and Italy -  providing perfectly cooked grooves and juicy basslines. 

The BLD team comprises of Esteban, Goz (Spin City), Pookie Knights, Cole Kutz (Opentempo.fm) De Gama and Fingerman (Hot Digits) – clocking up decades of DJ’ing and dancefloor experience between us. As individuals, the BLD team have been producing consistently high quality sets over the last few years. Now, as a collective, the aim is to make Black Light Disco THE place to promote new music and to bring you the very best in established/up-and-coming artists and producers in the sunlit uplands of sonic pleasure. 

In January 2020, we launched a weekly show on THE biggest house music FM radio station in New York, MyHouseRadio.fm (also available digitally at www.myhouseradio.fm).  The Black Light Disco Show airs every Monday exclusive to MyHouse Radio between 7pm – 9pm GMT (2pm -4pm EST), bringing you the finest in disco, funk and boogie; all delivered by our expert in-house Sonic Consultants (resident DJs) with guest mixes from the hottest producers, DJs and artists out there right now.
