Let's Go

The SAMOSA FUNK boys are back in town and boy oh boy - have they got a packed trunk of funk to unload at the loading bays here at BLT Towers. 

March 2021 brings us the latest instalment of the Samosa Funk Juggernaut, featuring the deadly duo of De Gama and Les Inferno. 
These guys just wow you into submission every time. Our advice? Don’t resist it. Embrace it. Let the Samosa Funk flow through your veins and arteries. 

Starting things off is De Gama, who had a set packed with new and upcoming releases on these gloriously crafted labels. Amazing music from an amazingly talented guy, all packaged in the De Gama silk kimono. De Gama has naturally funky bones, bones that would make the sound of a Xylophone if you tapped them. 

For the second hour we welcome Les Inferno, who delivered what we thought was arguably his best performance of this residency - that's a tough bar to meet, never mind to raise. The Les Inferno Encyclopaedia of Musical Knowledge should be on display in a glass case - you can look at it but never touch it. Les Inferno has to preach from it, and you just have to listen.

Airing on NYC's MyHouse Radio on Monday 3rd Feb 2020, Black Light Disco resident Sonic Consultants Dirty Old Vinyl and Goz were on hosting duties providing their unique brand of funky, slinky vibes. Black Light Disco Show 20th April 2020 -  Nick Gartland

For the Black Light Show which aired on New York's www.myhouseradio.fm we had a residents special with another exceptional team up between Dirty Old Vinyl and Goz who, as always produce the goods (and then some). The first hour kicks off with Dirty Old Vinyl weaving a web of downtempo colours and displaying their trademark knack of finding the sweetest spot with their selections. For the second hour, Goz motors through the gears, building up those high mountain peaks caressing the disco stratosphere. it was, on all fronts a classic two hours of Black Light Disco!

This week’s Black Light Disco show that aired on New York’s My House Radio marks the start of something truly special for us. In what we hope will be the first of many, Black Light Disco is proud to present 'Samosa Funk' - a new monthly collaboration with two of the hottest labels on the planet right now – Italian based Samosa Records and Daje Funk Records. Samosa Funk will feature exclusive two-hour sets from label head honchos and super-talented producers and DJs in their own right, Stefano Gamma (aka De Gama) and Les Inferno - all under the Black Light Disco banner.

Samosa Records and Daje Funk are, to put it mildly, a vinyl junkie’s dream. Consistently releasing high-quality grooves (predominantly on wax but also on digital platforms), both labels excel at delivering a distinctive sound drawing from multiple genres ranging from disco, funk, jazz, soul and Afro beats. Co-owners De Gama and Les Inferno demonstrate an almost unparalleled knowledge of these genres in their own productions, always infusing their own unique take to turn undiscovered (or long forgotten) gems into dance floor bombs or dreamy, high soaring journeys into the disco / funk stratosphere. Luminaries such as Al Kent, Hotmood, Lego Edit, Moodena, Sartorial, C. Da Afro, Fingerman, Sleazy McQueen and Massimo Berardi have added to a star-studded roster of producers and artists to embrace the Samosa Records and Daje Funk philosophy.

The idea of Black Light Disco became a real thing when a few like-minded DJs and producers came together to put on a night showcasing the very best in disco, house and funk and everything in between. Our ethos is based around a very simple concept: GOOD MUSIC, GOOD TIMES with GOOD PEOPLE. We announced ourselves on a gorgeous sunny Saturday in June 2019 with an all day and night party in Liverpool’s thriving Baltic Triangle area. It was the start of something very special. 

We have a solid core group of musical talent residing in BLD Towers hailing from England, Scotland, Wales, Northen Ireland and Italy -  providing perfectly cooked grooves and juicy basslines. 

The BLD team comprises of Esteban, Goz (Spin City), Pookie Knights, Cole Kutz (Opentempo.fm) De Gama and Fingerman (Hot Digits) – clocking up decades of DJ’ing and dancefloor experience between us. As individuals, the BLD team have been producing consistently high quality sets over the last few years. Now, as a collective, the aim is to make Black Light Disco THE place to promote new music and to bring you the very best in established/up-and-coming artists and producers in the sunlit uplands of sonic pleasure. 

In January 2020, we launched a weekly show on THE biggest house music FM radio station in New York, MyHouseRadio.fm (also available digitally at www.myhouseradio.fm).  The Black Light Disco Show airs every Monday exclusive to MyHouse Radio between 7pm – 9pm GMT (2pm -4pm EST), bringing you the finest in disco, funk and boogie; all delivered by our expert in-house Sonic Consultants (resident DJs) with guest mixes from the hottest producers, DJs and artists out there right now.
