River of Perception is a song about learning and recognizing your own toxic and destructive habits and wanting to change them to live a better life but being scared to fully realize your full potential. It is about recognizing that in order to live a more authentic life, better for yourself and others, you need to make leaps of faith and travel into unknown territory away from what is comfortable. This song borrows ideas of being like water from the Buddhist and Taosist faith. They say that people should learn to be fluid with change and recognize how no state of mind, feeling, physical entity, or thought is permanent. The self is an ever changing construct and one should learn to adopt a mindset and let go of any firm ideations about themselves since they are one with that river and will flow. River of Perception is sonically characterized by intertwining guitar melodies, lush vocals, and trippy sfx to really provide a smooth and liquid feel to the production.
