Feeling it all

Something is bubbling in Rotterdam. Longtime event and more recent label Blendits Audio have already arrived at their 14th instalment continuing an impressive streak of releases. Belgian duo M-Zine & Scepticz step up to the plate returning to their Dutch home base with the 4 track spanning Play EP.

Their technically adequate sound that brought them to labels such as Dispatch and 31 again has a strong presence throughout this varied yet vigorous release. The Play EP consists out of precisely timed drum patterns, ominous soundscaping and cinematic tones. On Singularity and Consonance, the boys team up with fellow Belgian producers M-Soul, S-27 and Larigold. The EP's title track and Glimpsed are solo efforts.

Naturally fusing influences from the past, with creativity stretching far into the future, a sound rooted in shrewd technical precision is authenticated by that raw and rugged old skool edge we love and treasure. 

‘Nether’ demonstrates their visceral respect of these elements, executed for future listening. Tightly constructed breaks, dotted with amen flashes sit comfortably over vicious bass growls, contrasted by deep atmospheric soundscapes. 

‘Obviate’ brings things right up to date; an explosion of tech funk primed for the dancefloor. With infectious drum work coupled by targeted sub lows striking the jugular, everything is carefully focused on retaining that essential groove.

Our first release of 2017 sets things off with deadly introduction, as we proudly welcome another first – the debut EP from Bristol based Kyrist, coincidentally this happens to be our first ever female solo release on Dispatch.

Causing a ruckus thus far with a string of gritty, yet groove filled singles and remixes, the ‘Venomous EP’ is the pinnacle of Kyrist’s work to date, featuring four superb tracks that shows her diversity in production, but really showcasing her bread and butter – those screwface steppers we’ve come to love, earning the support of S.P.Y., Ant TC1, Zero T, Kasra and Survival so far.

‘Venomous EP’ shuffles through hard hitting grooves, both infectious and rebellious in the mid ranges, uncompromising on the low ends (see title track ‘Venomous’), perfectly equipped for dark rooms with large rigs, and firm favourites at recent Dispatch events, such as ‘Tectonicz’.

On a deeper tip, Kyrist also enlists Irish soulster Steo for a vocal performance in ‘Find A Meaning’, aided in expressing a more soulful side we’ve not previously seen from her, yet still keeping that sharper edge to it.

DISLTD009 see’s the Belgian onslaught continue with the second April release for Dispatch Ltd

This time following up from April’s earlier intercontinental affair, three of Belgians finest exports bring “Point of No return”, “Reflexions” and “Chronicles” to Dispatches Limited's outlet.

M-zine and Scepticz production rate is nothing short of prolific and this is certainly reflected here in both the creative content and production quality, all three tracks carry their familiar and now signature stripped back sonic sound scapes, truly illustrating that by adding less, more can definitely be achieved!

Each single element is carefully sculpted and positioned within its own frequency space with the highest level of precision, leaving that all important, perfect measure of room to allow all of the low frequency content to breath and cut through to maximum effect.

“Point of No Return” has understandably been a staple inclusion for most of Skeptical, Doc Scott and Ant TC1's recent sets just to name a few and "Reflexions" was aired by Xtrah on Frictions Radio 1 show guest Mix, a clear testament to the release’s high standard.
