Coach & Ref is the collaborative project of longtime studio partners @Bleutopia and Daple. What started out as two artist/songwriters experimenting with recording techniques and equipment (especially vintage synths) in the studio, soon became a serious passion with a desire to share their love of artier micro-genres.

Channeling visions of retro-futurism with a potent fusion of indie and pop, the duo creates nostalgic soundscapes and lo-fi tones that seamlessly dovetail overt melodicism and bangin’ beats, with a mischievous grin that shines through it all. 

Their debut single #3D is out now and features Brooke Tomlinson on vocals. Sharing an insight to the track, Coach & Ref states:

Bleu is a celebrated artist, award-winning songwriter and producer, having penned Platinum and Gold tracks for Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Jonas Brothers. A Berklee grad, Bleu has been signed to Columbia Records and featured on the multi-platinum soundtrack to Spider-Man. He has spent time touring with the likes of John Mayer, Train and Japanese pop band Puffi Ami Yumi and worked directly with showrunner Allan Heinberg (The Catch, Wonder Woman, Grey's Anatomy), Wes Craven, ABC Studios, and most recently with director Steve Loter for Disney's Legend of The Neverbeast, where Bleu wrote and produced all the songs in the film, including a featured duet with KT Tunstall and working alongside Joel McNeely on the film's score. “Decisions is a song that answers a question people ask me all the time “Why are you so damn happy” and the answer for me is, “I choose to be so damn happy”. It’s as simple as that. Of course, no human can be in a great mood all the time but I think happiness is more than an emotion, I think it’s something deeper than that.  I choose to go through life focusing on the positive. It’s not an easy thing to do but it forces me to identify and articulate internally what happiness is and if it's even possible for me to achieve it. Once I was able to define what happiness was for me it made it so much easier to love others and to be loved by others. So when I say “I made the decision to be happy…” what I am really saying is that I decided to go on a quest to find it.”

The Social Distancing Sessions On The Time Machine
Broadcast Episode One

It's a bit of a peek behind the scenes with this broadcast of The Time Machine Radio Show that we've decided to call "The Social Distancing Sessions".  You've seen television news correspondents and late night talk show hosts practicing social distancing by their segments from their homes with very basic streaming that most of us might use with FaceTime or Skype on our cellular phones and laptops.  It's no different for radio around the world.  Some of us are still going to the radio stations to do our work, while others are not, due to the sheltering at home that all of us are dealing with.  Some of us are essential to the nation's public, while others are not.   Radio hosts Summer Blue, Tanya Teal and Michael McCartney used the FM dial to check in with friends of the broadcast including our sisters and brothers in the radio trenches as guests as well as musical artists that reach us with their music.   New music released and recorded during this time made their world broadcast debuts on The Time Machine, under one of the most challenging historical moments that we are all witnessing.  The aggressive spread of Covid-19 has had 
many test positive for the corona virus and sadly we have lost dear friends and family members.  This particular broadcast includes a discussion with a musician who tested positive and a local television host who tested negative, but still had the symptoms.   The Time Machine did its best to keep things light with humor and music in an honest attempt to communicate that we are all in this together.   Please be advised that this radio program took place before the passing of singer-songwriter Adam Schlesinger, who had been a long time friend of The Time Machine broadcast.    If you're looking for both comfort with some radio companionship, then feel free to join us.

Originally brought together to write catchy upbeat tunes for film & TV projects, the two realized they had a knack for ultra happy, feel good vibes.  With Jasmine's cute-as-heck singing and Bleu's character voices they envisioned a record of idiosyncratic indie-pop songs that invite positivity, acceptance, sunshine and make-believe.  Early on in the project the duo met to collaborate with the late great Allee Willis, legendary Grammy winning songwriter, artist and creative force of nature.  Allee generously offered her own unconventional perspective on the record which culminated in a song celebrating diversity "The Porcupine, The Skunk & The Platypus" which features Allee as “The Porcupine” on vocals.  Also featured on this record are the unique co-writing and background vocals of multi-talented Nashville based powerhouse Lindsey Ray.
