“This month I dug into my collection of cassette tapes from the 90’s, which I’ve slowly been cataloging over the last few years. For this episode I chose some gems that highlight the connections around music I had growing up with my cousins Blevin Blectum and Mike Kelley (Kelley Polar). The episode starts with a fictitious radio spot I made in 1997 while living with Mike in my Williamsburg loft. In this extremely dorky yet simultaneously intense document of my creative past I play radio host Johnny Stardust and interview myself as Paper Eyes, the alias that I recorded under at that time. Part 2 of the episode is an incredible DJ mix from 1994 by Blectum as D84 that was passed to me through Mike back then. I rediscovered it on an unlabeled cassette tape last week and was blown away by the selection and mixing style.”

Part 3 of the episode is a recording I had thought was lost until I found it while cataloging tapes last week. It’s Mike Kelley and I experimenting with clattering cymbals, rattles and sheet metal in the depths of the East Side Rail Tunnel in Providence, recorded in late 1993.
