Biography:

Cody B is a DJ/Producer from Jozi, South Africa. His love for music started at a very young age when he was exposed to iconic artists such as Micheal Jackson, Sade and Boyz2Men and was later introduced to Deep and Soulful House.

Cody B started his career in March of 2012 alongside Ivan M. as the DJ/Producer duo E4. Together the two DJ/Producers got off to a flying start , having earned a spot at Africas biggest Dance Music Festival H2O (Deep Revival Floor) as early as their 2nd gig. E4 then went on to earn three consecutive slots on the Deep Revival Line Up as well as playing at many prestigious club events in and around Johannesburg and Capetown.

At the start of 2013 Cody B made the decision to bid farewell to E4 and its second member Ivan M. to pursue a solo career in the Music Industry. Cody B once again got off to a flying start earning his first gig as little as 2 weeks after announcing his departure from the duo. Since then Cody has established himself as one of Jozi's leading pioneers in the Deep House scene and will always be heard or seen promoting all things Soulful and Deep. You can catch Cody B behind the decks at most of Jozi's prestigious clubs and events. Earning residencies on a number of Deep House movements such as Who?New, Pope, GiveIt2MeDeep SA and even occupies a regular slot for SA Production power house Spiced Events & Productions. Cody B is currently studying Music Production and Sound Engineering through Soul Candi and Boston City Campus and is planning on releasing his first EP in the year 2014...

On the mention of the name Keren Onay, one cannot help but associate the name with a fiery blend of groovy tech and soulful house. This unique fusion merged with a vibey enthusiastic persona creates an explosive experience for any crowd. It seems ay dance floor becomes a feeding ground of charged energy from the minute he drops the first track.

With over 16 year behind the decks Keren Onay has morphed in to a versatile force in the clubbing scene. Always staying true to his sound he follows his instincts while still paying homage to his most avid listeners.

Having mixed at some of the most established clubs in Jo-burg such as Aruba, Nicci Beach, and who could forget the regular slots at Jozi’s home of the underground: Truth.

We have also heard his cutting edge sound on the dance floors of the biggest South African dance festival H2O. Keren Onay is the mastermind behind the established event Sunday Funk. This happens every Sunday in Fourways and has become the place to be every Sunday in JHB.
He has played alongside to the likes of Ryan Dent, Craig Massiv, Roger Goode, Dean Fuel, Ricardo Da Costa, Lady Lea and Guy Herman. While opening for acts such as the ingenious Trafik from Global Underground, Tiefschwarz from Souvenir Music and of course Kolombo from Lou Lou Records in Belgium.
Having risen through the ranks and determination yet still considers himself “honoured” to have placed as a resident at most of the major clubs in South Africa.
With pure passion as his driving force he has become one of the heavy weights in the industry. He has left his fans wanting more and the SA dance scene hankering to see what his next step will be.

 Sheldon Olivier better known as "ShelO" is a young talented Dj/Producer from JHB Gauteng 

At a very young age ShelO was exposed to a lot of Trance & Rave music which was all because of his party animal Grandmother, but as ShelO grew up his music selection changed and he grew a strong love for Funky House, DnB and Hip Hop, He Says he gives a lot of Credit to his older brother for introducing him to House Music.
He was Further introduced to the clubing scene, where he heard and fell inlove with Deep House, and the underground movement.
ShelO is a huge fan of Deep Tech , Deep House and any other Genre with a great vocal and a fat Bassline, He has always disliked well known music (ANYTHING COMMERCIAL) and feels a part of a Djs job is sourcing unknown music and Introducing the crowd to the latest and greatest numbers. 
ShelO is rising up fast and still has many many years ahead of him, He is currently studying music production through Soul Candi, where he completed his Djing courses, He has already played at top events Such as GI2MD, Pope, In-House sessions, Who?New & many more. He gives a lot of credit, Love & Respect to his mentor & Teacher Cody Blanc better known as thee DJ CODY B who has taught him and helped him succeed in this tough industry.

Biography:

“South Africans are still only gaining an understanding of the deep house genre. I think I may have influenced the SA music scene by being true to my own brand of music. The genre is still classed as underground music at the moment but like everything, it will take a bit of time but will inevitably blow up.”
2Lani The Warrior has been breaking down dance floors all over the South African club scene since 1997. 2Lani is famed for his trademark ‘sweet’ house sound and a flawless Technical mixing style - cultivated by experience, direct contact with patrons on his dance floors and feedback gained from an ever increasing & faithful following. His standing within the music industry has seen him featured alongside international house DJ legends
Such as Kaskade, Harrison Crump And Troublemen.
2Lani The Warrior’s club portfolio includes Carfax, 115, Sutra (Cape Town), Tilt (Durban) to name but a few. He is also in constant demand for high profile dance events such as Pretoria’s Sweet Sessions, every All Good event, the popular monthly Movement parties as well as all of YFM’s birthday bashes. He’s also a regular on the international scene having recently toured Switzerland where he graced the decks in numerous rocking Swiss nightclubs ranging from Le Club to Purple Music Night.


His playing style, following and popularity has also resulted in the release of his CD compilations, First Class House Volume 1, Volume 2 and Devine House Of 2lani. The First Class compilations have become known for their deep uplifting grooves and First Class House Volume 2 completely selling out during the first day of its release - no mean feat by any standard! Devine House Of 2lani was A trendy fuse of jazz and house.
2Lani has also been integral in the
growth, distinction and status of Retro
Music, a record store cum DJ school and recording studio that has become his home base since 2004. In 2007 he
moved to Sheer/Soulcandi where he got more involved with A&R and marketing.


He was also the other half of recording label Bass Breaks & Beats Records (BBB).
As director and A&R, he got exposure to find some of the hottest local deep house producers and showcasing them to international markets.
Working at BBB helped him to perfect his leadership skills which proved critical when deadlines have to be met.
“Dealing with over 20 artists at a time and assisting them to craft their careers has been my most valuable reward to date,” says 2lani.
Working at BBB proved to be a great partnership and the label achieved great things especially over the 2009.
Collaborating with House Afrika Records and produced South Africa’s first homebrewed four pack deep house album. The market really accepted this offering and the album has sold over 20000 copies to date

Miguel Silva otherwise known as Sobrado is a Dj/Producer born and bred in the great city of Johannesburg, South Africa.

From a young age Sobrado always found himself having a special passion for music, which soon led him to establish himself firmly, focusing on a selective music genre- Deep House- the signature sound of uplifting vocals and rolling baselines.

With early influences accredited towards House music. He strives towards all his sets being uniquely different; containing only the very best in upfront club driven music. His music was always inspired by the likes of well known international artists which drove him towards having a very selective style in the Deep House scene.

Since 2010 he has had the opportunity to have worked with many DJ's, aiming to take house music, in all its shades, throughout the nights, to a level that may deem prosperous for all involved! Namely, Cody B, Nick Essential, The Vatos, Malcolm Dexx, Nuno Estevez, 2Lani The Warrior, Irmaos De Deus, etc, of which are prolific in their respective influence.

His ability to perform as a DJ and producer has allowed for him to pursue an avenue whereby, his inspired to create his own platforms (Event Host). This implying, that he aims to reach out in the event scene to help mitigate himself and allies of his. Producing a standard that fits his criterion and not fully relying on the vision of others.

As a DJ/Producer he hopes to take his unique style and dynamics to the world’s leading events. Having faith that ‘Sobrado’ will be a name familiar to millions.

Biography:

Jullian Gomes was born and brought up in the Republic of South Africa listening to Soul, Latin and Kwaito, before discovering House Music at the tender age of eight.

Since his first gig in 2003, his career has travelled only upward, and his love for production and skill-set grew steadily with it. Alongside cousin Michael G, he began the G.Family collective and has released on top South African Independent labels including: Soulcandi and House Afrika, which was followed shortly by records on influential International labels such as Realtone Records, Foliage Records, Atjazz Record Company and Seasons Limited.

In 2010 he stepped off the shores of his home continent to participate at the Red Bull Music Academy, which took place in London.

He has since then been invited to play at several local festivals including Oppikoppi, Rocking the Daisies, Cape Town Electronic Music Festival and in 2011 he was invited to play a dream slot at Sonar Festival 2011 in Barcelona, one of the most highly regarded music festivals in the world.
At 23 years of age in 2012, Jullian picked up his first MTN South African Music Award Nominee, when G.Family’s Album ”Break the Silence – Deep House Chronicles 6″ was nominated in the category ”Best Dance Album”.
Deciding to take a break from the G.Family collective in early 2012, Jullian Gomes released his solo debut single ”Love Song 28” (Ft. Bobby) as well as his second single in collaboration with Atjazz titled ”Overshadowed”.

2012/2013 also saw Jullian Gomes remixing for artists like Black Coffee, The Layabouts and British Soul legend Omar as well as working on remixes for Defected Records, Ralf Gum & Atjazz. Early 2013 saw Jullian pick up an award for the video of ”Love Song 28” (Feat. Bobby) at the Metro Fm Awards.

Rolling with UK veteran and influential industry stalwart Atjazz and his Record Company in 2013, Jullian Gomes and Atjazz collaborated on their album ”The Gift The Curse” which was seen as one of the most interesting hook-ups in modern house music. The album also featured artists such as Osunlade, Robert Owens, Wunmi, Zano, Clive Astin and John Agesilas.

His inclusion into such prestigious and notable occasions is a testament to the hard work and many years of plying his trade as an avid music fan, producer and DJ. Jullian Gomes is on an eternal quest to widen his musical horizons with shuffled claps and electronic soul.

.............When they talk about a flower that can grow in the most rugged places Sand Isle is a pure example.

From the metal jungles of Alexandra Township, Sand Isle is an individual that uses himself as a medium to connect to the broad channels of the world by searching for ears that share the same itch and taste of music.                                                   

When he realised that music was his foremost passion, He moved from just being a simple listener/collector of Deep House, Tech, Kwaito, Hip hop and everything in-between to researching the art of House music and what type of message is it trying to spread across the Globe.

Sand Isle developed a desire and hunger to start digging deeper for a more intricate sound that could aggravated him more to understand the art of House Music which led him experiment on Dj’ng and that was back in year 2006, he was only 16 years of age that time. Through Practise he then started to take his performances to the people and played in Pubs, Parties and functions in his local area (East Bank).

The simple Performances were not enough for him because he had a bigger picture than just playing good music to people, he wanted to be more than just a Dj but an Artist that entertains through revelation so he went to study Music Industry & Sound technology at Central Johannesburg College in 2010. That allowed him to learn electronic Music Production which gave him a chance to develop his music production skills and form his own distinctive sense, Audio Recording, Mixing and Professional Dj and Live Sound.

After a Year he furthered he studies more of Music and Sound at Damelin (Allen Bay Campus) for two years while dj’ng in various locations like Bar 9 Midrand, Ndaweni Thembisa, Club Neh Alex, Waterfall Rustenburg etc. Sand Isle gained his skills of understanding and grooving different crowds (Mixed Raced) on the dance floor and through that experience he grew firm and confident about his craft.

He then got signed and requested to be the leading artist of Plite Recordings (Greenstone) and released his debut EP titled Lost In Translation on the Label which was well accepted by the likes of

Biography:

Karabo Mogoai better known as Authentik by my friends and peers. I was born and raised in the West Rand of Johannesburg. From a very young age music was a part of my everyday life. Music is in its different forms.

My earliest inspiration to music was brought about by my late father who was a huge Jazz fan. I spent most of my time with him being drenched in the beautiful sounds.     
Together with my mother and sister who have a soulful. They influenced my softer and sensual side of me in the music.

Many other genres also influence such as house, hip hop, kwaito to mention the least.
As I grew up I was always known to be the person who played the music loud :D Not much has changed though! I always wanted to become a DJ but I only started professionally since 2011/2012.I started DJing with a friend of mine who guided my through mixing very smoothly and sensually.

I've been gigging ever since 2012 (I'm still a baby in the game and have a whole lot to learn.) In the industry I can say I've been influenced by artists such as Jimpster, Charles Webster, Atjazz, Stimming, Kollektiv Turmstrasse,  Addex, Pablo Bolivar, Lars Behrenroth, Jullian Gomes and Mz Sunday Luv to mention the least. I take pride in my craft and always put quality ahead of every set I play. I've been recording podcasts as well, Rejected Tainted House Sessions & House Etiquette. On these podcasts I displayed my vast taste in music. Deep House, Deep Tech, Electronic & Techno.

They say dynamites come in small packages, and thats exactly how Dj Misfit rolls. A lady who is very versatile when it comes to talent with a Sports Sciences Degree, Personal trainer qualified, actress and dj, she is a fitness freak by day and puts on her dj cape by night.

Dj Misfits moto in all she does is to share love through it all. She has made a name for herself commercially and in the underground scene from dubstep to deep tech house, tribal to hip hop, old school to new school. One  thing she feels strongly about is whether its black, green, orange, blue or white, good music is good music.

Biography:

Coming from two completely different backgrounds, the two members of DeepSouls ; Bradley Jones & Ofentse ‘Milo’ Raphadu met through mutual friends and immediately spawned a formidable friendship through their love of music, to be more specific, deep house brought the two together.

Throughout the years the love for the music grew and thus allowing them to begin their career in DJ’ing, which initially started out as just a hobby, and avalanched into something bigger than each of them.

Bradley Jones, a fun loving, self -proclaimed comedian is one half of the duo. Despite his surroundings growing up, found himself becoming ever more inclined to house music, old school hip hop and a pinch of RnB, but deep house has and always will be his first love. 

Milo, the more introverted character is other half of the duo, and was introduced to hip hop from a very early age, this was the beginning stages of his adoration for music and the wonderful sounds it consisted of, and formed an interest in the producing side of things. With influences from kwaito and house, he found deep house which he found will become a big part in his life.

In their short yet increasingly growing careers as DJs , they have shared the stage with a plethora of some of SA’s most talented DJs in the industry such as Cody B, Renato Rodrigues, Malcolm Dexx, HouseKnights and HouseHold Funk, Nick Essential, 2Lani the Warrior, Lino to name a few, also featuring alongside an International; Mr Jesus Gonsev from Spain. Adding to events that they have featured at, they too have hosted their own events, in the effort to bring the beautiful sounds of deep house to the masses.

Music is what we love and it will always remain that way, We do it for the love and nothing else.

BBP - Profile DJ - Deep Souls

Biography:

Not much is known about RadioLab but one thing for certain is that he makes music that is different from the norm.

RadioLab's approach to music as he likes to put it is exploring the science of music and giving his music a vivid storyline to evoke those meer minutes of feelings when you listen to him.

He first introduced himself into the Afro House scene back in 2014 with his first single 'Bala Bala' under Justin Imperiale's record label Cabana Recordings. Later on, still growing musically, RadioLab released an afrocentric influnced single called 'After The Rain' remixed by Justin Imperiale himself followed by 'The Escape' which made it on Cabana Recordings VA- From The Hut Vol.4 being the final track closing the album on a hight spirited note of time.

RadioLab has continuously steered his introduction steadily by yet releasing a single called 'Ma'Afrique 'n The Jazz Misfits' under House Tribe Records with head-honcho record label boss George Vibe.

'Infection' released under ThreeRecords out in the UK marked RadioLab's love for Electronic Music with a touch of Afro saw him becoming and being a musical nomad keeping true to him exploring the science of music.

He then went on to team up with vocalist extrodinare Emilie Chick whose worked with the likes of Atjazz, Charles Webster just to name a few to come up with a song that's hard to give it a genre title called 'No Time To Fall' which went on to be remixed and packed by Dj/Producer/Remixer Doug Gomez and George Lesley under Merecumbe Recordings.

Time can only tell what we can expect from RadioLab as he gears forward and onwards to bring the beauty of music with a different approach.

Ele Elementry is a Stage Name of a Producer/Dj and founder of Sterio Sync Recordings from South Africa (Gauteng, Johannesburg) his real name is (Ele Nefolovhodwe), Ele Elementry started His Professional Music Production and Djing in 2012, before that he used to produce music but it was nothing serious. Until he decided to build up his own complete music studio. Apart from his own label Ele Elementry is also a producer and a remixer for Samara Records in Switzerland where his first EP debuted before he decided to start his own label which cater for Production, Djing and Events

Biography:

Johannesburg South born and bred electronica DJ , Brandon, a.k.a. Miguel Gaio got swept up by the electronica steam train back during it’s early beginnings. Harking back to his younger years, with fond memories as a pre-teen, armed with just a Sony Walkman and a collection of Tech house mix tapes in his backpack, it is fair to say not many discover their passions quite as early as Miguel. It wasn’t long into his teenage years before he’d develop an insatiable thirst for crate digging — flipping through record after record picking out the dancefloor nommers that would further ignite his passion for music.
With an open mind and fierce curiosity for anything and everything electronic music-based, he has spent the past two decades soaking up a multitude of genres and styles ranging from Detroit techno, Tech house, Afro house, Deep house. Artists like Stimming, Maya Jane Coles, Solomun, The Martinez Brothers, Adana Twins and Stephan Bodzin are just some of the musicians that went on to shape Miguel into the tastemaker he is today.

Today, Miguel focuses on pushing an infectious fusion of synth-laden techno and rhythmic baselines. With recent influences such as Avi Subban, Deep Souls, Laminin Music, Malik Faquir, 2lani The Warrior, you’ll be hard-pressed to argue for a lack of diversity within his sets. His tracks go from the deeper end of downtempo and breaks through to the tougher grooves of house and techno.

And with over 12 years of crate digging, and turntable spinning, Miguel Gaio is no stranger to the electronic music scene. These days, he can be regularly found locked away in his studio, jamming together ideas and carving out his deep signature analog synth-lines and grooves for his next upcoming release. While a relatively new venture for him, the challenge has without a doubt seen him progress successfully into the next phase of his music career. With a slew of releases already under his belt, and constant releases in the pipeline, Miguel Gaio has set the bar high for his work ethic and continues to dedicate himself to the craft.

Biography:
With roots reaching back to his spiritual home of Sheshego, a small township in Polokwane, Katlego Ngoepe, better known as DJ Swizz, has emerged as something of a polymath of the deep, driving afro-tech aesthetic in the South African underground house scene.

Taking a liking to house music in the latter part of the 90s upon hearing a popular remix by the New York duo, Masters At Work, Ngoepe was spellbound. A 17 year journey of self discovery ensued, and an assured Ngoepe emerged knowing that he had to transcend the label of DJ and fill the role of an industry player and tastemaker of a budding sound on the precipice of a mainstream breakthrough.

Ngoepe describes the sound that most drives him as anything that possesses an inherent spark, anything that awakens within him an urge to dance.

Passionately applying his vision, he has helped nurture and develop the sounds of both Da Capo and Punk, young prodigies in their own right, while unifying their respective styles under the collective umbrella of their label, Surreal Sounds. Their success is a testimony to Ngeope's tireless resolve and penchant for developing talent. His work with other artists behind the scenes is proportionate to his extensive catalogue of masterfully sculpted compilations and widely popular podcast series.

Enigmatic, calculating and forward looking are but a few qualities that can be attributed to his longstanding success. His almost permanent presence at the birth of new, exciting sounds solidifies him as one of the true visionaries within the industry.

Ngoepe incorporates keeping an ear to the ground as a central tenet of his philosophy, and perhaps this best pinpoints his talent and ear for discovering and moulding new artists with the deft hands of a master craftsman.

When did I start DJing?

I started 3 years ago, using a laptop and mixing on Virtual DJ with a controller at small parties for friends, family and events and progressed to the skills I possess today.  With the mixes, live performances and music I produce, I expect nothing in return except the love for music, and the smiles on people’s faces.

Being able to create a sense of extreme happiness in the amount of time I'm given is something I always look forward too.

Progress so far as a DJ?

I am the SOUL CANDI OLMECA SESSIONS DJ competitions winner for 2014.  - I have performed live on the Channel O Celebrity Basement channel 320 on DSTV.  - I have been featured in the Mixed Apples magazine for the yearly, monthly event called Trio Nova.

- Represented South Africa Internationally in Mozambique for DJing on an island called Tette for a Color Fest.  - So far I have had the privilege of playing alongside Black Coffee, DJ Kent and Shimza as well as, Chunda Munki, Kyle Watson, Master Simz, L.A Cruz, 2 Lani The Warrior, Isle Of Sky, Emountikon (Cape Town), Trademarc, Vimo, Lady Lea, Roger D' Lux, Midnight Machine (Mozambique), Apollo, Crazy White Boy, Apollo, Dis&Dat (Italy), Jullian Gomes, MiCasa, Euphonik, Mafikizolo, Moflava, Culeo De Song, Christos, Da Capo, Liquid Deep.

Played at Spring Fiesta in 2014 and 2015  - Played H20 Main Stage 2014 - 3000 plays on a song I produced with DeepBox and over 700 plays on my mixtapes on Mixcloud and have a track in the works with @Tristan from INVERSE FUNK

Yiorgos's multicultural heritage (Greco, Afro & Egypto-Arabic) resonates in his track selection. Yiorgos draws inspiration from DJ's and producers such as 2lani the Warrior, Steve Bug, Deep Souls, Random Fact, Fulltone, Laminin Music, Krippsoulisc and Sanoi to name but a few.

Deepsteps is a young producer from South Africa located in Soweto,Real name is Mvuyiseni Mlamla ,his journey of music started at an early age.

Up&Coming is a  section giving an opportunity to new artists to line up against the headlining artists from our profile section. 

Blewbox was founded in August 2013, with the vision of creating a community around the world bringing people together for the love of Deep house. With influences Internationally  such as Detroit Swindle, Purple Velvet, Jamie Jones, Seth Troxler, Jimpster and Locally KITI Housekeepers, House Knights, Antiquated Souls, Household funk, Baxter, Cody B and many more.
