It is just a cold band of gold,
Now only worn to keep away the bold. (maybe the foolish)
They don’t see the ghost on my hand,
Or the shadow behind what I am.

I am a man that still wears his ring!
If anything it is comforting. (comforting).

The ring still fits, though the love is gone,
A whisper of warmth leaned upon. (Leaned upon)
Not for the vows, or the lies they brought
But the quiet it gives my thoughts. (I have lost my thoughts)

It once burned bright in a lover’s fire,
Now dull with time, deceit, and desire. (yes desire)
The truth cut deep, but the scar won’t sting,
But I am at peace with this golden thing. (This ring)

The ring don’t burn, it chills my bone,
A crown for the cursed, a claim I own. (It's my own)
Not for the love that rotted through,
But for the peace it gives — without you. (remember that)

A sad tune from my finger’s ring.

I don't care I'll wear it anyway, (anyway)
Heedless of who it scares away.
If they really were intrigued. (intrigued?)
They would ask and not retreat.

Not for the past, or the pain it sings,
But for the calm it brings, (It calms everything)
