Sonny Miller is a man I met when I was traveling south with a friend this past March.  We thought we'd take a scenic route through the back roads of Oklahoma.  This was mountain land, down in the Ozarks, there weren't too many people around but a couple broke-down looking houses.  We thought we were lost so we pulled off to the side of the road.  It was a nice day, the sun in the grass and the dust looking golden so the windows were down and over the crinkle of the map in the front seat I thought I heard something.  That was guitar.  And harmonica too.  And a raspy voice came out from the distance.  We followed it down the road to Sonny Miller's front porch.  He was standing at the steps looking out on the field between us with his guitar strapped round his back with a piece of twine and a harmonica clamped between his teeth, singing out of the side of his mouth.  He looked to be sixty or seventy years old but he sounded as young as me.  I didn't know this music was around like that anymore and I thought I had to capture it.  We spent a good couple of hours there on the porch with him until sundown.  He had enough songs to hold us that long and probably decades more.  All I had in way of recording machines was a cell phone, and that's what you hear.  He called himself Blind Boy Miller.  Enjoy his music and may he keep on making it many more years.
