First up on FLIRTs 13th release is Disclosure. What a return from Jennings! The track is underpinned by a low-end pad filtering throughout, bringing a deep, warm flavour to this sultry yet energetic groove. Combine this with the funky vocal loop cleverly positioned before the drops for extra impact. The result is a gorgeous deep groover set to get dance floors moving. Next up is Sample 029 equally as impactful as it is contrasting, starting with a kick that creates a rolling effect blended with delicate moving pads, tied together nicely with an acid synth to bring suspense to the record. Add some rolling drums and a mid-bass sound to add weight and texture and its all perfectly rounded off with a trippy deep swirling vocal on the main breakdown and drop. A truly sublime B side. The final cherry on top of this tasty minimal cake is rising star ADRs remix of Sample 029. His dark take on the original brings together hypnotic synth leads, and heavy acid layers, blended with the original vocal to add a deeper contrast, the perfect peak time roller which has seen it receive early support from You&Mes head honcho Josh Baker.

This collaborative EP is a sonic tennis match between Jonaku and Rob Alanz. Starting with the original track No Need To Change by Jonaku, the idea was to rally the song back and forth, remixing it like a game of tennis. The result: four dynamic versions — the original, plus three remixes. Rob Alanz fires back with the Top Spin Shot Remix, Jonaku counters with his Backhand Remix, and Rob finishes strong with the Matchpoint Remix. One track, four takes, pure creative rally.

Moon Harbour kick off 2016 with a very special collaborative EP featuring two essential tracks. Tanzmann & Stefanik - Volta (MHR086)

It has taken seventeen very carefully curated years, but Moon Harbour now hits release number 100 in some style. Matthias Tanzmann’s label has actually put out around 150 EPs, albums and compilations, but the 100th vinyl release is a special family affair with key artists Dan Drastic & Sven Tasnadi, Luna City Express, Daniel Stefanik and the boss himself all featuring. This fine EP, then, confirms the now very grown up label is still young and exciting at heart. 

There have been many highlights over the years, and the underlying philosophy of the label has always been to progress slowly but surely. To that end it has help make the careers of many artists, unearthed exciting new talents and showcased some fine underground heroes at the same time. 

First up is the man who started it all, Matthias Tanzmann. His ‘Mahoney Baloney’ is a seductive seven minutes of teasing tech house. Bubbly synth sounds percolate up through the dry, hollowed out drums, odd spoken word vocals add freakiness and the all-important bass is warm and rubbery. Party starting but in subtle ways, it is a typical bomb from this long time master. 

Label manager Dan Drastic and regular musical sparring partner Sven Tasnadi then come together for ‘Tastic’, a deep but cavernous track that sucks you right in. It builds and builds to become a slick dance floor pumper with trippy vocal yelps and warm, colourful chords that sooth the soul. Playful and smartly incendiary, it is a surefire dance floor weapon. 

Label mainstays Luna City Express then offer a more peak time cut with vamping synths, frazzled pads and discordant stabs that bring real wonky dynamism to the rooted kick drums. It’s one to get the crowd up on their toes and sweating as it twists and turns for the absorbing duration. 

Last of all, master of intricacy Daniel Stefanik keeps things tight with his nicely coiled drums bringing a real sense of house funk to the EP. Restless and bouncy, killer drum loops and skewed chords all ensure you cannot fail to get swept up and carried away. 

With these four varied yet vital cuts, Moon Harbour perfectly encapsulates what has made the label so essential over the last 100 releases.

It seems as if 15 years have quickly flown by since we first opened our doors at the base of the famous Oberbaumbrücke joining Berlin’s Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain districts. With countless long nights into majestic mornings and open airs in our beloved city to showcases spanning the globe, Watergate has grown to include a booking agency and a record label pushing the sounds of our mainstay artists and some of the most revered acts in the scene. To celebrate our journey over the last decade and a half we have put together a special anniversary release of 25 new, exclusive and formerly unreleased tracks to be released as a 2x CD set with our traditional Watergate artwork as well as a special collector's edition box set as a 5x vinyl, 2x CD package including a commemorative art print, two free entries to the club itself and the very special photo book ‘Sound Travels’ by Linus Dessecker which features photos and interviews of artists that played at Watergate when they arrived or left Berlin, all wrapped up in a sleek minimalistic package entitled “WATERGATE XV”.

A deep, chugging bass line powers through trippy textures and a steady, captivating house beat as Mannheim-based talent Fabe introduces listeners to the title track off his album 'Water Tower'. 

After releasing material on respected labels like FUSE, Sukhumvit, Mulen and Cocoon Recordings, he now turns his attention to his own Salty Nuts imprint for his debut full-length, which is packed with the driving dancefloor sound he's become known for. This is a major moment for Fabe and one he takes advantage of as he delivers a stacked collection of hypnotic and loopy house cuts that can't be ignored. 

Fabe described the vision behind the album: “It’s about personality. I wanna show people who I am without talking to them. People should know a very personal size of me after listening to this album, as 'Water Tower' is all about me."

Fabe's 'Water Tower' LP is set for release January 15.
