Being named a resident at Berghain is likely an unattainable dream for so many DJs, but for Sedef Adasi, it all happened naturally. The Turkish producer grew up in the mid-sized Bavarian city of Augsburg, where a lack of spaces she felt comfortable with—she's mentioned DJing in shoe stores—led her to start her own party, HAMAM Nights. From there she made her name with a vibrant, diverse sound that encompasses breaks, electro, techno and more, with soft-focus melodies and plenty of vocal hooks. She's one of the first residents at the legendary club to truly reflect the glorious cross-pollination of dance music styles in the '10s, when techno absorbed ideas from dubstep, garage and more. 

Adasi represents both floors of that club, and you could imagine this RA Podcast going down in either room, but of course, she exists outside that club's narrative too. What you'll hear here is a cutting-edge and dynamic blend of electro and Latin techno—with two tracks from 2022 MVP Nick León—mixed with grace and finesse. For a few days each summer, deep in the Amsterdamse Bos on the outskirts of Holland’s capital, you’ll find a restless pack of ravers rushing from one stage to the next in pursuit of the freshest new sounds. That’s half thanks to Casper Tielrooij, who swapped the Hague for Amsterdam and started his Dekmantel parties back in 2007. Two years later those became a label and by 2013 a festival. Now in their tenth year, the forest festivities show no signs of slowing momentum, due in part to an exceptional and quality mix of genre-agnostic rhythms. Tielrooij finds creative freedom for his patchwork of influences through Dekmantel Soundsystem: and here they are. Bassiani Podcast 167 is a groovy and undulating exploration in sound recorded live at the club's Dekmantel showcase, one that clicks, klangs and wobbles, a synth-packed and searing-hot mix courtesy of Casper’s covetable record collection.

@roi_perez is at the beating heart of the queer dance music scene in Europe. His route to the top started with a residency back home in Tel Aviv, but since moving to Berlin 2013 he has gone on to make a wider impact with regular standout sets at fetish club Lab.Oratory and Berghain’s Panorama Bar. His focus is always on buying, playing and selling records rather than making them, so he is an adventurous DJ who is always evolving but is famed for his long, winding, eclectic sets that span multiple sounds and scenes. 

Even over the course of just an hour in the mix for us this week, he manages to travel far and wide. It's a party starting selection, for sure, with emotive breakbeats next to pumping percussive rhythms, steamy house and jacking acid. The rhythms are always raw and ragged, meaning Perez does a fine job of keeping you on the tips of your toes from start to finish.
