Blue Heat - live at Luff 2023

29 Speedway announces their second solo release “Hydra” by Japanese experimental electronic musician Yolabmi. A staple of the DIY experimental electronic scene in Tokyo, Yolabmi frequents hubs like FORESTLIMIT, spread, and spazio-rita. “Hydra” diverges from Yolabmi’s earlier body of work that previously explored soft ambient sounds, acoustic textures, and field recordings of wildlife; tracks that feel like they’re straight out of Tsukamoto’s 80s machine-body horror films, heavy with repetition and glitch where sampling creates mechanical conversations.Yolabmi’s grasp on sound design has been central to their creative process and is a through line across their shifting sound. In this 8-track EP, we hear Yolabmi strip away embellishments to focus on using sound design for its percussive and atmospheric capacities. Elements shift, tick, drip, chirp, and groan, building to a dark fugue. “Hydra” is a dizzying ride with an undercurrent of drones and a constellation of sounds that feel like they’re traveling at at the speed of light.

Like a twisted serenade, the world lurches and sways in its carnival of chaos. Plummeting virtues, blooming atrocities—a manic theatre where grimaces don stolen masks of joviality. 

Each murmur of despair strums onto the discordant xylophone of existence, each shattered dream fuels the ludicrous laughter of a deranged puppeteer. It's Warhol's Nightmarish pop-art—a macabre conclave of colors guzzling on the lifeblood of sanctity, an unholy masquerade christened in ebon despair and twilit terror.

And yet, such is its perverse charm. In a HeinzBeanzTM-tin world choking on its own garish, overpowering toxicity, stumbles a mum. Unblinking. Holding a sobbing starburst of new life, eyes innocent, echoes of Eden.

She bears the scars of a million griefs, punctured dreams and stitched hopes—a patchwork quilt of life. She inhales the acrid aroma of decay, but exhales the perfume of possibility. 

Ah, what relentless romantics we are - for amongst the wreckage we create, love and hope sprawl defiantly, clinging shrewdly to the sinews of humanity. Shaking a fist at the blackened skies, refusing to kneel. 

The world, then, is a myriad realms of paradox—a malevolent, yet bewitching labyrinth. Perhaps, a cosmic stand-up gig of sorts, garnished with cherries of absurdity—a menacing mockery bathed in hilarity’s cruel light, kindred spirits swaying in pandemonium’s waltz.

An existence perched restlessly between Lucifer's lunacy and God's guffaw, between the birth-cry of innocence and the death-rattle of hope—and somewhere in this absurd spectrum of madness, we find ourselves. Still clinging, still fighting, still loving. When it comes to life, perhaps that's the punch line—a risible ride on the carousel of catastrophe. ]),

Started out in a totally different direction, wound up here. I was just noodling a bit to figure out what sounds and textures I wanted to put together, and as I played I realized I had a nice ambient piece on my hands, so I recorded that instead.

May have gone overboard with the clicky, blippy percussion, but I'm not sure such a thing is possible

Le Couronnement

Making Electronic music on a DAW has kinda consummed my life. So in order to appease my GF and break away from the routine of spending hours apon hours a day intront of the computer making music on I decided to take a temporary Hiatus from music production. I wanted to leave behind   this EP  b4 I do. Just incase I never make it back to music production, This is my contribution to the music Industry. I would say im overal pleased with the results of the content, and I am comfortable with this 3 track EP representing myself as an artist. I would like this EP to represent the much needed change in the current state of our society. And maybe inspire others to break away from the norm and start questioning things. I would love to expand on this when and come back to music. but for now this is all I got. ..... Peace Love Unity Respect
