This title track from the same-named album, one that largely went unnoticed by the media and music aficionados - even experimental music fans - alike, contains grand acoustics that soar and are far-reaching, a light, retrospective narrative and effects that sound as though floating in a post-apocalyptic new wave daydream. One of the side projects of Denmark’s dark brooding romantics Iceage and Marching Church, Var’s No One Dances Quite Like My Brothers mixes subtle electronic undertones with low-key vocals that are eerily familiar and hauntingly perfect. The sound, the songs, the music are nuanced and raw, yet evoke powerful motifs and imagery throughout this bypassed, underrated 10-track album. Each song, as well as this title track, is worth multiple listens. New wave is new again.
