Be it through passion, determination, or just sheer stubbornness, gardenstate continues to bloom. A transatlantic labour of love from superproducer Marcus Schössow and club promoter Matt Felner, their debut album ‘Inspirations’ is out October 15 on Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats imprint. 

At the heart of Sweden’s decade-long domination of club music in the 2010s, Marcus’ fifteen-year-long career boasts a smörgårdsbord of styles. You’ve got electro with ‘Swedish Beatballs’, the mainstage energy of ‘Reverie’ and ‘Ulysses’, and the driving progressive of ‘London / 1985’. Few artists have record sleeves from Axtone, Armada, Size, Spinnin’ and Anjunadeep in their catalogue. Heavily invested in the early 2010’s big room sound, he was a permanent feature in the sets of Swedish House Mafia and Knife Party. 

New Jersey native Matt Felner gave up his blue-collar job to follow his passion for electronic music. A respected promoter and performer, he’s brought emerging artists to the clubs of New York and the East Coast. In 2008, he toured Marcus Schössow and they became close friends.

Making music on their own terms, the gardenstate sound is a melting pot of ‘90s trance nostalgia, brooding melodic techno, peak-time breaks and poignant song writing. Few acts can worm their way into the DJ sets of Kölsch, Cristoph, Tiestö and Above & Beyond at the same time. 

Releases on Joris Voorn’s Spectrum Records and Yotto’s Odd One Out have nurtured an underground following, while reworks of A&B and Gabriel & Dresden have introduced them to the trance and progressive crowd.

Opening track ‘Aurora’, co-produced with Paavo from Above & Beyond and featuring vocals from Nandini Srikar, is a love letter to the life-affirming experience Marcus had playing in India. Paavo’s studio was also the birthplace for ‘Revival’, a collaboration with Gabriel & Dresden, Andy Moor and PROFF, while long time friends SØNIN and West Of The Sun (Leon Bolier) join Marcus and Matt for ‘Koski’. 

‘Respondez-moi’, a dance floor reworking of Switzerland’s 2020 Eurovision entry, partners Marcus and Matt with Gjon’s Tears, who finished third in this year’s competition.

There’s a heavy breaks influence across the album, including ‘1995’, and BBC Radio 1-endorsed ‘Take Me There’ with GVN, Anjunabeats 750th catalogue release.

gardenstate’s debut album ‘Inspirations’ is out now on Anjunabeats. They join Above & Beyond for Group Therapy 450 live from The Drumsheds London on September 4, in addition to two sold out Red Rocks shows on October 21/22.

Kasablanca present their debut three-track EP on Anjunabeats, the ‘Immunity EP’.

This enigmatic melodic techno duo exploded onto the scene in summer 2020 with their Lane 8 collaboration, 'Run', a bonafide hit for both artists. As of March 2022, it’s been streamed nearly 20 million times on Spotify and charted at #1 on SiriusXM BPM. 

Kasablanca's legend continues to grow. ‘Run’ was followed by their debut album 'Human Learning', and they've been touring globally ever since. The duo debuted their live show, replete with racks of modular synthesisers, at Red Rocks Amphitheater in September 2021 while supporting US bass superstar Rezz. 

In December 2021, they joined us at Anjunabeats, remixing Above & Beyond's 'Black Room Boy' as part of the '10 Years of Group Therapy' celebrations. Their first original music on the label arrived soon after: ‘Immunity’ in January 2022, and ‘Can You Hear Me Now?’ in February 2022. ‘Immunity’ playlisted on Diplo’s Revolution station on Sirius XM, and was described as “a sleekly propulsive slice of melodic techno” by Billboard. 

Kasablanca recently thrilled crowds at CRSSD Festival in San Diego, Terminal 5 in NYC, and Echostage in Washington D.C. Further dates across the US are planned across spring/summer 2022, including Buffalo, Columbus and Houston.

We’re excited to reveal more original music on the label from one of dance music’s most intriguing acts. Kasablanca’s ‘Immunity EP’ is out now on Anjunabeats.

Story time with Indecent Noise.

You know, being a kid in eastern block wasn't fun when it came to access to fresh music, all we had were German imports, tons of compilations like Future Trance, Viva Club Rotation and Dream Dance and some very limited access to artists albums. 

I've always been a fan of Brooklyn Bounce, and as a teenager loved their stage appearance and musical route. I completely lost the plot during their hard trance / hard house era, the whole "Restart" album was a soundtrack of my and my cousin's summer of 2001. Non stop, on repeat. Even my wife had "Bass, Beats & Melody" set as her wake up alarm. Good times. From that same era came "Loud & Proud", the first single after the "Restart" album, I believe I had it on Future Trance 21, instant banger, loved it, it went straight to top of my winamp playlist that time. 

Few months ago I had a dinner with onTune at my place between one of writing sessions and we were discussing some remakes ideas and Adrian said: "what about Brooklyn Bounce?" for that I replied "I love it, let's do this, but do you think BB would send us parts just like that?". And Dennis Bohn replied to our mail in like 10 minutes with link to "Loud & Proud" sample pack! What a legend.

We went straight back to studio super excited but the whole process wasn't that straightforward that we thought it would be. We went thru like 4-5 major alterations but finally we decided to simply go back to the basics and just respray the original without any crazy additions and keep BB vibe in check.

So here we are. It's Friday, May 23rd 2025 and your boy from Poland, massive fan of Brooklyn Bounce has just released an official remix of "Loud & Proud" on Mental Madness Records! How cool is that?

A hard trance, euro-dance classic back from 1998 Ixxel's famed 'Drop That Beat' receives a 2021 re-rub from party masters Dimitri Vegas & Like and Bassjackers.
 
A dialled in and upfront remix, this new interpretation of 'Drop That Beat' is loaded with more rhythm and bass pulse than the original.
